COLUMBUS, GEORGIA: Dr Younan Nowzaradan of 'My 600-lb Life' has heard every justification in the book, but new patient Patrick Macon irritates him in a way few others have in a preview clip. Let's get to know Patrick a little better before TLC fans see him live on March 22.

Patrick gets on Dr Younan Nowzaradan nerves in Wednesday's episode of 'My 600-lb Life' because of his flimsy justifications. Patrick weighed 657 pounds at his first weigh-in, and the married father of one has reached a breaking point. Patrick has no option but to seek the assistance of Dr Now, who may be his last-ditch effort to reduce weight. But does he do what Dr Now demands of him?

Who is Patrick Macon?

Though 42-year-old Georgia resident Patrick Macon claims he is in agony "every day" as a result of his weight, Dr Nowzaradan of 'My 600-lb Life' chastised him for his lack of commitment to weight reduction. Patrick, who weighs 657 pounds and is tired of being a burden to his wife Amanada and daughter Haley, seeks assistance from Dr Now, a Houston-based bariatric specialist. Patrick is compelled to hear the tough reality from his doctor after making little effort to adhere to the diet he got from Nowzaradan and adding even more weight over six months.

According to a preview clip, Patrick added nearly 30 pounds between appointments, prompting Dr Now to question whether Patrick should continue on the program and return for another check-in. "I don't think you should make that trip again because there is no point if you're not making the changes you need," Dr Now said. The journey from Georgia to Houston is undoubtedly long, and if Patrick isn't committed to the program, it may be a waste of time and gas.

Patrick attempted to blame his weight increase on "the flu," but Dr Now advised him to "make a better story," adding that most people drop weight when they are unwell. Dr Now chastised Patrick for "not taking this seriously," despite the fact that Patrick's body is "close to giving out." In an attempt to persuade Patrick that he must accept responsibility, Dr Now informed him that "there is no magic to save you," suggesting that Patrick is the only one who can make him drop weight. Dr Now's worries were clearly justified, as Patrick disclosed that he suffers from chest discomfort on a daily basis, leading Dr Now to request an EKG.

What happened to Patrick on 'My 600-lb Life'?

Dr Now may have a harsh demeanor toward his patients on 'My 600-lb Life,' but he rarely gets this agitated. Patrick's justifications demonstrate that he isn't sincere about losing weight, and Dr Now sees right through them. Dr Now has been running a weight reduction clinic for many years and has heard a lot of excuses from patients. He typically maintains his calm while being stern and straightforward. Patrick, on the other hand, appears to press him past his boundaries, demonstrating how much Dr Now cares about his patients. Dr Now may have spoken harshly to Patrick, but it was all in an attempt to make Patrick see the truth.

While Patrick's weight reduction path does not get off to a positive start, many 'My 600-lb Life' stars have had rocky starts but were able to turn it around. Patrick's health appears to be in danger, which would explain Dr Now's irritation. The famous weight-loss expert only desires what's best for his patients, which sometimes means dishing out some tough love.

Where is Patrick Macon from 'My 600-lb Life' now?

Patrick may still be on his weight reduction path after recording 'My 600-lb Life,' though he may have had a setback. According to Amanda Macon's Facebook page, he was afflicted with gallbladder or bile duct cancer. In February 2023, she tagged Patrick in a post with a picture about Gallbladder and Bile Duct Cancer Awareness Month. "You are not alone babe!" she wrote. "You have an army behind you! We love you."

Apart from what appears to be Patrick's diagnosis, he and his wife are also enjoying their daughter's eighteenth birthday and imminent high school graduation. And, by all reports, the family appears to be tighter than ever.

Patrick's entire story will be unveiled in the new episode of 'My 600-lb Life,' which will air on TLC and Discovery+ on Wednesday, March 22, at 8 pm ET/PT.
