HOUSTON, TEXAS: Season 11, Episode 2 of TLC's 'My 600-lb Life' chronicles the journey of 37-year-old Latonya Pottain from Shreveport, LA, who has previously visited Dr Younan 'Now' Nowzaradan and fears losing her mobility at 632 lbs. However, seeing her consistently fail to lose the weight that doctors have ordered her to lose has infuriated viewers.

Latonya sought treatment from Dr Now five years ago, but she claims he dismissed her because she refused to commit to the program. She never returned for her second appointment, but she's ready for another opportunity now. Latonya weighed 482 pounds when she initially saw Dr Now. She's gained 150 pounds since then.

Why are 'My 600-lb Life' fans irked at Latonya?

Dr Now asked Latonya on Wednesday's episode of 'My 600-lb Life' what has changed in five years that will allow her to lose weight now, and Latonya replied she has sought more support from her family and now has her fiance, Daune. Dr Now informed Latonya that she needed to reduce weight and regain her health as soon as possible. He also stressed the need for her to improve her mobility and wean herself off her powered wheelchair.

Latonya admits to Dr Now that she eats a substantial breakfast every morning even if she isn't hungry. When he questions why she eats when she isn't hungry, she says that a doctor told her that she needs to eat in the morning because her metabolism is "high or low or something like that" if she doesn't.

"Let me tell you one thing," says Dr Now. "But you should never get confused about the one thing, eat less. There’s no confusion with that." Dr Now devises a strategy for her to drop 40–60 pounds in one month. Dr Now is also arranging for Latonya to see a physical therapist in addition to a food plan.

Latonya's physical therapist thinks she's improved, but she's concerned since she's not performing any physical exercise. She believes Latonya does not exercise when she is not present.

Latonya's weight loss progress was unchanged during her two-month check-in. She'd actually gained 4 pounds. When Latonya meets with Dr Now, she immediately informs him that she is concerned about a blood clot since the swelling in her leg is severe. Dr Now merely chuckles softly and inquires as to why she has gained weight. Latonya apologized and expressed her deep sorrow. Dr Now informs her that she is in discomfort since she weighs more than 600 pounds.

"You keep eating too much, but you won’t admit it," Dr Now explains as he adds, ". . . You keep repeating the same lie, it doesn’t come true."

Latonya was moved to tears by Dr Now's stark reality. She said she wasn't angry, but she didn't want to drive four hours to get chewed out. "I could have stayed at home for that," she admits. Latonya wants people to realize that losing weight is difficult and that it would take time for her to make changes since she is not a robot.

Dr Now claims that altering her life will take time. "It takes one minute to change your life," he claims. He settles on psychotherapy for Latonya and gives her two months to reduce 60 pounds. He does not believe he can assist her if she does not reach this aim.

Latonya attends treatment with Dr Matthew Paradise. She tells him that her eating issues began when she was 12 years old and her mother died unexpectedly, followed by her father moving in with one of her mother's acquaintances. Dr Paradise informs her that it appears she still has unresolved issues with her father, and that she should write about her thoughts to help her stop depending on food to cope. After her session, Latonya believes it was a waste of her time and efforts.

Latonya gets significant leg discomfort on her next trip to Houston, so Dr Now admits her to the hospital to be checked out. Dr Now believes Latonya is exploiting her leg problems to avoid confronting the truth that she isn't losing weight. Nonetheless, he performed some tests and discovered that, while she did not have a blood clot, she did have some cardiac abnormalities. Dr Now kept her in the hospital for a bit longer to do further testing because of the cardiac difficulties. Latonya was still disobedient and complained about the meals while in the hospital. Despite this, she was able to lose 48 pounds in two weeks, dropping her weight to 594. Her cardiac condition improved as a result of her weight reduction and medicines.

Latonya despised the dish and referred to it as "dog food." Dr Now claims that the high-protein meals supplied by the hospital, such as beans and meat, provided her with the nourishment she requires. He also mentioned that she has enough food stored in her body to last her four years and that she could possibly go for a week or two without eating anything. He claims that her lung capacity is limited and that her heart's fourth chamber is overextended.

When Latonya goes to Dr Now for her final episode appointment, she is startled to hear that she has gained five pounds in seven months. Her current weight is 599 pounds, and she believes the scale is off. Of course, Dr Now is frustrated with Latonya's lack of progress. Latonya again blames her lymphedema for her lack of improvement. She claims that the soreness keeps her from exercising. Dr Now believes that Latonya should stop traveling to Houston since she isn't making any progress. He adds she can get her weight evaluated in Shreveport and only return if she makes significant adjustments.

She concludes her episode by stating that she is not shocked by Dr Now's decision since she is guilty, but she lists a variety of problems that have hampered her weight reduction, including despair, stress, and financial difficulties. She claims that things will only grow worse, but she will figure it out on her own.

'Latonya has been enabled for way to long'

Disappointed to see Latonya's inability in cutting down her food consumption, a fan wrote, "I took pics of the food Latonya ate; 'cause I know when she goes 2C Dr. Now she’s going to tell him: “I really don’t eat that much, I just snack all day.” If Latonya will discipline herself to just eat half this amount; she will hv lose weight B4 she go see Dr Now." Speaking of how she has been enabled for long, a fan wrote, "LaTonya has been enabled for way to long. Then, you have Ms. V over there giving her fried fish & French fries, pretending to not see her eating all that food/not being active. Not surprised at all that she gained 4 lbs." Seeing Dr. Talking about Latonya's strict diet, a fan wrote, "She aint sticking to this damn diet." Another angry fan wrote, "Get Latonya off my damn tv. wasting everybody time."

Fans were pretty impressed by Dr Now as he was not holding himself back while calling out Latonya, “You’re gonna say it’s water weight. I’m constipated. I didn’t go to the bathroom for 3 days. Or the floor was crooked.” Dr Now coming in hot with the 👏🏻RECEIPTS👏🏻." Seeing where the problem lies, a viewer wrote, "I honestly don't know why some people exploit themselves for this show if they aren't going to follow through. I honestly hope for her sake she finally makes the changes she needs to, but I think she likes her food, bed and wheelchair more then anything else." Calling her 'ungrateful', a fan wrote, "“tHe DoG fOoD” girl. You can tell she’s never been hungry a day in her life. So ungrateful." Another Redditor wrote, "Watching this lady argue with everything is so frustrating."
