HOUSTON, TEXAS: Syreeta Covington's approach to Dr. Now's program was gradual and steady, and it did not result in an operation at the conclusion of the episode. 'My 600-lb Life' viewers got to meet Syreeta's husband-cum-caretaker, Lawrence Covington, during the two-hour episode, which made them question if he was actually helpful or sabotaging his wife.

Syreeta, 31, resides in Columbus, OH, and is scared to sleep because she is fearful of not waking up. Her floor at home is uneven and unstable, and she has previously tumbled through it. Of course, she is afraid she will do it again. She is in continuous agony and does not wash every day because the pain is often excruciating. She frequently gets away with spot tidying. Syreeta admits that her family helps her a lot, and her husband Lawrence says that when it comes to Syreeta and her meals, he often has to choose between peace and conflict.

Help or Sabotage?

Syreeta met Lawrence through a dating website. They dated long distance for two years before moving to be with him. One worry is that Lawrence prefers larger women, which could stymie her weight reduction efforts. She is afraid of losing Lawrence to another lady, but her greatest dread is that she will die and Lawrence will have to bury her.

On the way to Houston, Syreeta asks Lawrence how he feels about the possibility of her dropping a significant amount of weight. Lawrence is apprehensive about the prospect because he fears she will alter in general.

Syreeta had dropped 12 lbs. at her next weigh-in, placing her at 591 lbs., which was less than the 60 lb. targets  Dr Now had set for her. Despite not reaching her objective, she is pleased to be back in the 500s. Dr. Now pointed out that if she only dropped 6 pounds per month from now on, she'd be there in 6 or 7 years. Lawrence confessed that he was the one who brought her the chips and sweets that were causing her diet to suffer.

"If you want her to live, you have to do everything you can to help her avoid temptation," Dr Now advises. But he also held Syreeta accountable for her own actions and choices.

Lawrence cashed in his 401k to ensure they had enough money to relocate from Columbus to Houston, but the check did not come on time. Not only that, but it was misplaced in the mail. Since they were unable to find lodging in Houston, they remained in Columbus, paying for their present home on a month-to-month basis. Syreeta claims that traveling from Columbus to Houston has been extremely taxing on her body.

Syreeta and Lawrence were able to locate accommodations in Houston, but she gained 9 pounds at her four-month check-in.

Syreeta lost 29 lb. at the conclusion of the episode, which did not satisfy Dr. Now's criteria, so he gives her two more months to continue losing at the same pace of about 14 lb. or more. Syreeta says she is on schedule to drop more weight than Dr. Now requested of her and is working diligently at weight reduction because she wants a happy life and wants to have children with Lawrence.

'Lawrence is unbothered and not phased'

Questioning if he actually had a 401k, a fan asked, "How does Lawrence have a 401k we ain’t seen him go to work not one time. He’s busy driving Syreeta around." Another fan suggested, "Lawrence could do it with her and go to his own counselor." Pointing out how he affected her diet, a fan sighed, "She was suppose to eat 8 shrimp but Lawrence gave her 14 instead." Another person wondered, "Are we all wrong about Lawrence or is this like an Assanti thing?"
