Who is Andrea on 'Dr Pimple Popper'?

In Season 9, Episode 4 of the show, Andrea visited Dr Lee's office seeking treatment for her skin condition. Andrea suffers from vitiligo, which causes white spots to appear all over her body, including her face and hands. Andrea expressed her discomfort with her condition, saying that she always wears makeup, even while swimming or doing other activities. She also shared that people have made hurtful comments, comparing her to Michael Jackson and asking if she had been burned or dipped her arms in paint. Other doctors had previously prescribed pills and laser treatments, but Andrea found no relief from these methods. When she was diagnosed with vitiligo, she felt devastated, realizing that she would never look the same.

What happened to Andrea on 'Dr Pimple Popper'?

Andrea and her partner visited Dr Lee during the latest episode of "Dr Pimple Popper." While noting her natural beauty, Dr Lee agreed with Andrea's assessment. However, Andrea expressed feeling hopeless and lacking anything to look forward to before visiting Dr Lee.

During the consultation, Dr Lee emphasized the importance of treating vitiligo, explaining that while it's not life-threatening, it can be a slow-progressing condition that makes people self-conscious. Dr Lee shared that she targets vitiligo in two ways: stopping the body from attacking and triggering pigment in areas where the patient has lost pigment cells. To achieve this, Dr Lee introduced Andrea to a new class of medications called JAK inhibitors. She explained that these inhibitors block the body's response to attack, but that they need to be paired with UV-B rays to re-pigment the affected areas, which requires a "life box." However, Dr Lee lamented that "it is really hard to find a life box, and they are really expensive," even admitting that she doesn't have one.

Despite the setback, Dr Lee remained determined to help Andrea and eventually diagnosed her with another process. Following the right treatment, Andrea regained her self-confidence and is now able to live a makeup-free life.
