'The Voice' Season 29 release schedule revealed as the Battle of Champions heats up
'The Voice' Season 29 returned with a bang on February 23 on NBC. The latest season of the singing competition series will see three, not four, coaches returning to the red chairs, for the first time in the show's history. Past winners John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and Adam Levine will go head-to-head as coaches in this season, dubbed 'Battle of Champions.' In an official statement, NBC promised audiences a revamped season "infused with fast-paced, competitive elements, delivering a fresh twist on the format that raises the stakes for coaches and artists alike." Additionally, all episodes will span two hours, giving viewers double the dose of music, entertainment, and competition.
'The Voice' Season 29 release schedule:
The first three weeks will comprise Blind Auditions, followed by the Battles and Knockout rounds, and end with the semi-final and finale. At the end of the third week, each coach will have 10 artists on their team. Moreover, it should be noted that an official episode count for Season 29 has not been revealed yet. Only the first three episodes have been confirmed, as of this writing. Hence, the release schedule for 'The Voice: Battle of Champions' looks as follows:
February 23: Episode 1, 'Blind Auditions'
March 2: Episode 2, 'Blind Auditions'
March 9: Episode 3, 'Blind Auditions'
With this, it can be assumed that fans can expect a new episode every Monday. This season, 'The Voice' has introduced exciting changes to the format and added a new twist to each of the four rounds. For starters, the Blind Auditions will feature the 'Triple Turn Competition.' As per the original rules, if all three coaches turn their chairs for a certain artist, that artist gets to decide which team they want to join after the coaches try to convince them to choose their team over the others. This time, however, a new twist is set to take the competition by storm. The coach with the most artists on their team who got three chairs to turn will earn a game-changing advantage called the Super Steal. In the Battle round, the coach with the Super Steal advantage will have the power to veto another coach's attempt to steal one of their artists.
The Knockouts will feature the In-Season All-Star Competition. Each coach will nominate two artists from their past seasons for a head-to-head sing-off, with the winner being chosen by Season 1 coach CeeLo Green. Among the returning artists are Javier Colon (Season 1), Jordan Smith (Season 9), Maelyn Jarmon (Season 16), Jake Hoot (Season 17), Girl Named Tom (Season 21), and Renzo (Season 27). The coach with the most sing-off wins can send two of their artists from this season directly into the finale. The semi-finals will start with the Top 9 performances, with the Top 4 heading into the finale. A new voting block, comprising super-fans and past Voice artists, will be part of the in-studio audience and get to vote for their favorite artists in real time during the semi-final and the finale. The latest episodes of 'The Voice' Season 29 will air from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. on NBC and can be streamed the next day on Peacock.
