The show first premiered on July 20, 2005, and since then it has been adapted in 41 countries. This dance franchise has maintained a steady rating among viewers for over 9 years with 17 successful seasons.

'So You Think You Can Dance' Season 18 will continue to showcase contestants competing in dance challenges, with weekly eliminations resulting in a $100,000 grand prize winner.

What is 'So You Think You Can Dance' Season 18 all about?

The new format for Season 18 will present stories in the style of a documentary, incorporating the candidates' personal lives into the narrative. Previously, the competitors' dance performances were the only way the public got to know them.

According to the press release, fans will now get the complete image of the dynamics that go on behind the scenes as the camera dives inside the cast's daily struggles, new relationships, and personality clashes.

The new season will again include weekly dancing challenges designed to imitate the reality of a successful dance career. The challenges include playing in a football halftime performance, competing against a Broadway artist, and appearing in a music video.
