SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 22 Episode 8 is set to air on Sunday, April 7 at 8 pm ET on ABC. Judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie found 2024's Top 24 talented singers after they auditioned contestants in five cities including their respective hometowns, Tuskegee, Alabama, Santa Barbara, California, and Leesburg, Georgia in addition to Los Angeles and Nashville.
The latest season recently witnessed the biggest cut in the 'Idol' history. 143 talented singers who earned the Golden Ticket after impressing the judges during the audition, performed in the Hollywood Week. However, over half of the aspiring singers were sent home on the shocking first night of the two-hour-long Hollywood Week.
The ABC show had a slight change in the format as the regular group and duet performances of Hollywood Week were eschewed. After the cut-throat competition only 57 contestants managed to grab a spot in the Showstopper round. Additionally, a couple of contestants were already out of the competition even before the Hollywood Week aired.
