When will 2024 Emmy Awards air? 75th Annual Primetime to air after 4 months delay due to WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes

Owing to the strikes' delays, January 15, 2024 at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT will now mark the 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The 75th Emmy Awards will be telecast on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 8 pm ET/ 5 pm PT. The Creative Arts ceremony will take place on Saturday, January 6, and Sunday, January 7.

On Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 8 pm ET, a modified version will run on FXX. All events will be held at LA Live's Peacock Theater.

Due to Hollywood's record labor slowdown among writers and performers, both of whom are important to the Emmys, the ceremony was delayed for an unprecedented four months.

The Television Academy's leaders were among many who breathed a sigh of relief when performers voted on December 5 to adopt their new strike-ending contract, thereby ending the walkout.

With an autumn appearance date centered on the conventional broadcast TV season, the Emmys have had certain peculiarities based on the considerably more dispersed timetable of cable and streaming for years. The delay accentuates the peculiarities.

Another oddity is that by the time the ceremony arrives, all the winners will have been determined, with the symbolic envelopes sitting unopened for more than four months.

Since the Television Academy wanted the voting to be consistent, its nearly 20,000 members were required to vote by August 28.

The Emmys will be held in January, a week after the Golden Globes and around six weeks before the Screen Actors Guild Awards, both of which celebrate television in addition to cinema.

The Emmys have not been postponed since 2001, when the 9/11 attacks occurred just five days before the scheduled event. That ceremony would eventually take place in November.

Who is hosting the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards 2024?

The Television Academy announced in December 2023 that Anthony Anderson will host the forthcoming ceremony.

"When Fox asked me to host this historic telecast, I was over the moon that Taylor Swift was unavailable, and now I can’t wait to be part of the biggest night in television," the 'Black-ish' actor said in a statement.

Who are the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards 2024 nominees?

The nominees for the 2023 Emmy Awards were revealed in July by 'Community' star Yvette Nicole Brown. 'The White Lotus,' 'Ted Lasso,' 'Succession,' 'The Last of Us,' The Bear, and 'Abbott Elementary' were among the predicted nominations.

The most notable category was Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, which included Jenna Ortega ('Wednesday,' Natasha Lyonne ('Poker Face,' Rachel Brosnahan ('The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,' Quinta Brunson ('Abbott Elementary,' and Christina Applegate ('Dead to Me').

There were a few surprises on the list, such as James Marsden's nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for 'Jury Duty'. The show, which immediately became popular, was also nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series.
