However, with the slight changes in the show's format, season 21 of 'American Idol' welcomed several alumni of the competition making small appearances throughout Hollywood Week. Meanwhile, part two of Hollywood Week is going to be more intense as fans' favorite singers might get eliminated. Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie will return to the judges' chairs with Ryan Seacrest to host.

Things are going to heat up in 'American Idol' Season 21 Hollywood Week part two. The contestants will perform to save themselves from elimination, but only a few will advance to Showstopper, or the Final Judgement Part. The latest season introduced a new format where the contestants had to work on one of three areas they wanted to enhance: confidence, songwriting, or stage presence. The new challenge brings many well-known singers from 'American Idol' as mentors for the new contestants, who will be around 150 in each category. The remaining contestants will be tasked to identify their talents and give their best solo performance followed by choosing from the indie-folk, pop, rock, R&B, soul, and country groups.

Hollywood Week on 'American Idol' season 21 not only brings thrilling new challenges, but it also welcomed seven audience-favorite alumni as mentors. Noah Thompson: Noah wowed 'American Idol' season 20 judges with his impressive country voice. He ultimately became a fan favorite and a household name, consistently being sent through each round and eventually to the finale. Noah won over runner-up HunterGirl and bagged the whopping cash prize of $250,000 and a record deal with Hollywood Records. After winning the show, he rose to popularity even more and has also released singles, 'One Day Tonight,' 'Stay' and 'Make You Rich'. Noah now mentors the season 21 contestants.
Jordin Sparks: Jordin won season 6 of the singing competition. She has now become an acclaimed singer-songwriter. The Grammy-nominated singer's song has also peaked in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it her third top 10 single and fifth consecutive top 20 single.
Catie Turner: Catie made it to the top 7 in 'American Idol' season 16. Though Catie didn't win the competition, she did become a sensation with multiple hits. Catie recently gushed about mentoring 'American Idol' 21 contestants in the latest interview with Billboard. She shared, "Whenever you revisit Idol you feel exactly how you did the first time, so I almost time traveled back to being 17 and I was so full of wonder and awe."
Phillip Phillips: Phillip's latest singing credits include, 'Love Come Back To Me'. He has released multiple songs since winning Season 11 of 'American Idol'. His notable works were featured in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' (2014) and 'Grudge Match' (2013). Philip has also reflected on being an 'Idol' mentor. The singer shared, "This is my first time ever coming back as a mentor." He further said, "I feel like it's going really well, just talking, just communicating with these contestants. It's been fun and it was really cool honor for them to ask me. So yeah, hopefully we all get to learn a little bit of something this week."
Justin Guarini: Justin was the runner-up in 'American Idol' season 1. The singer has garnered groundbreaking success since appearing in the singing competition. He has toured across America, starred in 7 musicals, and played principal roles on Broadway. Justin has also hosted live televised red carpet events for the Grammys, Emmys, and Tonys to his award-winning 7-year-long commercial campaign as the lovable 'Lil’ Sweet' for Dr. Pepper.
David Archuleta: – David dropped his first single soon after he became Season 7 runner-up. Since then, he has released seven more albums and multiple singles. People are excited but mostly nervous and it's just kind of an awkward place to be."
Clay Aiken: – Clay was the runner-up of 'American Idol' season 2. Since then, he has tried singing and acting and ended up running for Congress. Clay also got candid on returning to the show and called the journey an 'unforgettable experience.'
