'Release an album': Fans impressed as Oliver Steele performs with paralyzed dad in 'American idol' 2023

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 21 has officially put a stop to tryouts, at least for this season. However, the ABC singing competition program made sure to close the event with one of the season's most emotional performances.

Oliver Steele, a 25-year-old singer-songwriter from Mount Juliet, Tennessee, is the season's final auditionee. Oliver disclosed that his father was a skilled Blues guitarist before suffering a stroke that left him paralyzed on the left side of his body. Oliver had another sobbing background story of the night to offer, but his voice hit the chord for the judges. Furthermore, fans took to social media following his performance, praising him for the same.

Oliver's second song for paralyzed dad makes judges dance

While playing guitar, Oliver sang 'In My Life' by The Beatles. Luke Bryan described it as "an experience." Katy Perry stated that he began to "throw it away" a little bit and that he needs to "stay milking it" for the duration of the performance. The judges urged Oliver to bring his father in so he can see them award his son a ticket to Hollywood! Eric Clapton's encore rendition of 'Change the World' was the cherry on top. "You could win this thing!" Katy exclaimed after Oliver's second performance.

Fans praised Oliver as one tweeted, "Oliver Steele... what a soulful voice! Very authentic!" While describing his voice, a fan wrote, "Oliver Steele's voice is honestly magic. He's my favorite from all the auditions I've seen." Already demanding an album, a fan wrote, "I’m gonna need Oliver Steele to go ahead and release an album... Honestly, I’m gonna say top 3. Wow!" Calling him the champion already, a fan tweeted, "Go ahead and crown Oliver Steele American Idol champ!"

Speaking of his father, a viewer tweeted, "That!!! YOU DESERVE TO BE THERE! Your dad should be proud. Natural talent." Another person added, "GIVE OLIVER A RECORD DEAL NOW!" One fan also wrote, "Oliver Steele. great song choice, nice gruff on the melody and very rhythmic. I always like some humming too. Nice!" Calling him the real deal, a fan wrote, "Found my favorite so far! Oliver Steele is the real deal."
