TULUM, MEXICO: Kelsey Anderson's left hand is now a little heavier! Kelsey is currently wearing a gorgeous Neil Lane engagement ring after getting proposed to by Joey Graziadei on the finale of 'The Bachelor' Season 28.
On Monday, March 25, Joey proposed at the final rose ceremony in Tulum, Mexico, during the season 28 finale. He proposed to Kelsey with a massive emerald-cut diamond ring with smaller diamonds encircling the band.
The cost of the diamond and setting is entirely dependent on what Neil has to give, but don't be fooled into believing they're inexpensive. The engagement rings in the Bachelor franchise are generally very expensive.
The ring Jed "Wrong Reasons" Wyatt chose for Hannah Brown is said to have cost between $45,000 and $80,000. And what about the enormous diamond Ben Higgins brought out when proposing to Lauren Bushnell?
Worth an estimated $95,000. Jef "With One F" Holm's 2.5-carat ring for Emily Maynard reportedly cost $68,000.
These are not designed for "change-under-the-couch-cushions" price, folks.
Who pays for rings on 'The Bachelor'?
Neil apparently provides the rings in exchange for the notoriety of being on national television—by now, everyone knows the jeweler is connected with Bachelor Nation—but the Bachelor is free to purchase his own ring if he so desires. Aaron Buerge allegedly bought a $35,000 Harry Winston diamond for his Bachelor winner, Helene Eksterowicz, who sold it on eBay for $28,300 after the pair split.
What happens to the rings if 'The Bachelor' couple breaks up?
There's always a catch: you can't just walk away from a two-week breakup with a massive, nearly six-figure diamond. The Bachelor Nation contracts, according to Radar Online, state that ABC is supposed to receive the ring back if the pair breaks up before the two-year period.
But if the pair decides to part ways after more than two years, as Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth did in 2019, they get to decide what to do with the ring. If they remain together, of course, they retain it. However, ABC has the first choice to repurchase it if the couple decides to put it up for auction or whatever.
Who gets to keep 'The Bachelor' ring?
Neil told InStyle that he makes each ring with the couple's long-lasting love in mind.
"It’s my hope that the spark between them lasts forever. And if it doesn’t, I like to think that the ring goes to heaven," he said.
More practically, as previously said, if 'The Bachelor' pair splits up within two years, ABC retains it. If it happens beyond two years, there isn't much public information about it.
We could imagine the pair has to figure it out or divide the money from the ring's sale - by then, they're essentially private individuals (kind of), so there's no way of knowing.
