Jacob Elordi in talks to join 'Black Widow' star for A24's thriller 'Scapegoat'
Jacob Elordi may have already lined up his next big project. According to Deadline's sources, he is currently in negotiations to lead an A24 thriller titled ‘Scapegoat’. The project already has Scarlett Johansson attached in the lead role. However, no plot details or character descriptions have been revealed as of this writing. What’s known so far is that Ari Aster will direct the film from a script he wrote himself. Lars Knudsen from Square Peg banner is attached as a producer, while A24 will be the distributor.
Though the plot has not been revealed, speculations, as per the publication, suggest that the title could revolve around a doctor operating on an internet-famous person. Some also believe it could be a sci-fi romance. However, an official confirmation is awaited. Additionally, it’s important to note that Elordi’s involvement is not finalized yet, and there's no word from A24 or Aster himself. His casting depends on how the negotiations go. It could take some time for a decision to be made because the talks reportedly only started last week. If a deal is indeed finalized, the publication reports that filming could begin later this year. So, Elordi's fans will have to exercise some patience and wait for further confirmation. While Johansson is a big name in Hollywood, Elordi brings his own star power to the project. He’s maintaining a good streak with his recent projects, including ‘Euphoria’, ‘Frankenstein’, and ‘Wuthering Heights’. His upcoming project is a post-apocalyptic survival thriller titled ‘The Dog Stars’.
Directed by Ridley Scott, the movie is scheduled to release in theaters on August 28. Based on Peter Heller’s bestseller of the same name, ‘The Dog Stars’ is a “riveting, epic thriller set in a world where survival is instinct, but humanity is a choice. Scott tells the story of Hig, a young pilot who, together with a military survivalist, Bangley, has carved out an efficient but isolated homestead in a brutal post-apocalyptic world until a mysterious radio transmission spurs Hig to venture into the unknown in search of the hope and humanity he still believes exists.” Alongside Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Guy Pearce, Benedict Wong, and Allison Janney are also part of the cast. Regarding ‘Scapegoat’, more concrete details can be expected in the coming weeks.
