Users leave fat-shaming comments, mocking the rookie idol on her 'Weekly Idol' fancam

The NMIXX members have great potential and are set to become JYPE’s next biggest girl group. Every member went viral in their pre-debut days for song or dance covers while their blind pre-order crossed 61k in 10 days. But it hasn’t been smooth sailing for the new girl group after they debuted in February second week. They have been embroiled in several plagiarism scandals while their song was dubbed the ‘worst debut of all time’ by American media that barely cover K-pop. And now, 16-year-old Jiwoo is being fat-shamed.

Since the early days of K-pop, agencies have made sure their female idols have an almost size-zero or skinny figure that has now become the standard. Unfortunately, this means that young girls have to go on diets while also exhausting themselves practising day and night without proper health care. This has led to trolls and anti-fans cyberbullying those who do not fit this standard the slightest.

NMIXX’s Jiwoo fat-shamed

Previously, TWICE’s Jeongyeon was fat-shamed as she put on visible weight due to her anxiety medicines and alleged steroids she took for surgery. Kep1er’s Chaehyun, who is only 19, is often mocked as trolls claim that her midriff is fat. And now, NMIXX’s Jiwoo is being shamed for looking ‘thicker’ than the other members when they appeared on the show ‘Weekly Idol’. In her individual fancam, there were several comments ranging from users being curious about her body, giving unsolicited advice on how to lose weight to straight-up nasty comments fat-shaming her.

‘She’s a minor’

Angry fans are slamming these trolls for bullying and mocking a 16-year-old. One NSWER (NMIXX’s fandom) tweeted, “JIWOO IS NOT FAT she f**king 16 years old and yall calling her fat wtf is wrong with yall me and jiwoo are basically the same body shape SHE A MINOR sorry but Korean beauty standard is beyond me how can yall find her fat this would be considered a normal body shape in America.” Another fan posted, “Jiwoo is funny Jiwoo is beautiful Jiwoo is cute Jiwoo is talented Jiwoo is a all-rounder Jiwoo is precious Jiwoo is gorgeous Jiwoo is elegant Jiwoo is smart Jiwoo is lovely Jiwoo is perfect and doesn't need to change for anybody.”

One shared, “Me when someone had the audacity to talk about jiwoo beautiful b0dy.” Another NSWER added, “Jiwoo‘s weekly idol fancam being full with bodyshaming her and calling her names ?? she’s literally born 2005 and yet you guys are bullying a minor because of her w3ight? she’s completely normal and there is nothing wrong gtfo 😭 the NMIXX hate train for likes is crossing lines.” One angry fan pointed out, "I'm actually so mad people are really bodyshaming a 16 yo girl. and that, that was the first thing people got on their mind its crazy cause what us nmixx stans, jiwoo stans noticed first it was how talented she is, how her voice is angel like, how she raps, how she dances well." Another NSWER commented, "Jiwoo is perfect just the way she is!! she doesn't need to lose weight, you who need to change your stupid mind."
