LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'American Idol' Season 21 kicked off its Hollywood Week where multiple aspiring singers' dreams will be shattered with the eliminations. Notably, 'American Idol' alumni returned as mentors to build confidence, stage presence, and songwriting as they prepare for performances on the Hollywood Week stage.

Phil Stacey's daughter Mckayla Stacey took the stage during the Hollywood to serenade the judges, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. 'Why did they single McKayla out'

Mckayla performed 'Warrior' with the mentorship of Jordin. The aspiring singer demonstrates emotion with a piercing focus through her soulful vocals. She sang her heart out but wasn't able to advance to the next round. While other judges weren't highly impressed with Mckayla's performance, Lionel said, "American Idol is the best university you can attend. If you win you move on and if you lose, you learn." Meanwhile, social media users think Mckayla's performance was incredible and the judges made a huge mistake. A user wrote, "They totally made a mistake just saying."

Mckayla Stacey reunites with Jordin Sparks

Mckayla's father Phil competed in 'American Idol' Season 6 with Jordin. Notably, Jordin even babysat her when her dad was on the show and she mentored Mckayla as a contestant. Mckayla also shared her experience and excitement about reuniting with Jordin. She shared a series of stunning photos on her social media and wrote, "What an incredible experience this has been, I didn’t make it far but I still gained memories & friends along the way.
