Episode 21 of ‘The Voice’ season 21 enthralled the fans with the ‘Challenge Week’ wherein the remaining contestants performed on songs “outside of their genre.” The latest episode was opened by Holly Forbes and was closed by the trio called Girl Named Tom. Amidst all the performances, Jim and Sasha Allen proved why they are here to grab the coveted seat of the semi-finals.

Despite facing heat from the Internet last week, the father and son duo came out strong as they belted out their rendition of ‘Stay’ by Rihanna & Mikky Ekko. The duo’s mentor Ariana Grande shared a few helpful points before they landed on stage for the main set. The rest of the coaches namely Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, and John Legend seemed equally impressed as they showered their praises adding that they deserve to be in the semi-finals. Jim and Sasha Allen are known for their low-key performances and continuing the ritual, the duo pulled off the latest challenge with ease.

Jim and Sasha Allen serenade judges with magical performance

The duo looked dapper in an all-black formal outfit as they mesmerized the judges and the live audience with their latest set. Speaking to them, John Legend said that he was so happy that America saved them adding that their rendition of the song ‘Stay’ was “beautiful.” The ‘All of Me’ hitmaker concluded that what he loved about them was the crackle and the pain. For the unversed, this was the first time Jim and Sasha Allen performed on a contemporary pop number instead of their usual older classics.

Coach Kelly Clarkson chimed in and shared how much she loved the rasp in Sasha’s voice and how Jim always managed to sing with a heartbreaking voice. Their mentor Ariana Grande too quickly added that it was their best performance to date and also one of the best performances of the entire season. She concluded that the father and son duo held their own place as vocalists. Sasha later took to Twitter to share how elated he was for the first time after a performance. “We worked so hard on that song. first time ive ever felt happy after a performance. i love you guys.” The next episode will see three singers in the bottom where two will be eliminated no matter what team they are on.
