'The Voice' Battles 2022: John Legend STEALS Ian Harrison from Team Gwen after picking Alyssa Witrado as winner
UNIVERSAL CITY, CALIFORNIA: You can always count on John Legend for strategizing a sneak attack. After losing Ian Harrison to Team Gwen during the blind auditions, looks like 'The Voice' coach finally got his way after all, as the celebrity coach decided to use his steal button to get the 20-year-old Ohio resident onto Team Legend after an intense battles round performance.
For the battle's round performance, Gwen Stefani paired Ian with Alyssa Witrado and picked Billie Eilish's 'Happier than Ever' as the battles song. After some grueling rehearsal sessions with Gwen and battles advisor Sean Paul, Alyssa and Ian took to the stage to deliver their final performance. By the end of their battles performance, the coaches were on their feet giving a standing ovation to the duo's impeccable performance. Both Alyssa and Ian managed to wow the judges with their vocals. John wasted no time in giving his rave feedback to the duo. While pointing out how the duo looked like stars thanks to their outfits and on-stage persona, he however picked Alyssa as the winner because the song was right in her wheelhouse and she was flawless. He also complimented the depth in Ian's voice, before declaring that he thoroughly loved both their performances.

Blake Shelton, however, felt a bit differently as he chose Ian as his winner. The OG coach praised Alyssa's buttery soft vocals, but was pleasantly surprised by the "shock factor" that came with her opponent's vocals. The country legend admitted that he didn't expect Ian to deliver such a great performance to Billie Eilish's song, but the way he handled the number - which was way out of his comfort zone - made him pick Ian as his winner.
Finally, it was Camila Cabello's turn to reveal her winner. The 'Havana' singer kicked off by naming Alyssa as her winner, but also added that she loved both their performances so much that she would start a Twitter fan account for them both! Host Carson Daly turned his attention to the duo's coach Gwen for her final verdict. Gwen couldn't help but feel the pressure as she was being made to choose between two of her favorite team members. Before delivering her final judgment, Gwen declared that she was Ian's "super fan" and that she wanted to be like Alyssa when she grew up. Finally, Gwen made the difficult decision to pick Alyssa as the winner of the battles round. Thankfully, John decided to use his steal option and saved Ian from elimination by stealing him onto his Team Legend from Team Gwen! John had previously used his save option on The Marilynds to save them after a nail-biting battles round against fan-favorite contestant Parijita Bastola.
'The Voice' Season 22 airs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC, and is available for streaming on Peacock.
