LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On Monday, March 6, 'The Voice' Season 23 will premiere, and fans can't wait to see coaches Blake Shelton, Naill Horan, Kelly Clarkson and Chance the Rapper make another appearance. Sadly, Shelton's time as the original coach will come to an end during this season. While viewers can't wait to see the talented artistes perform in the blind auditions, NBC revealed the first contestant of Season 23 in an early release. 

The first contestant should be familiar to 'American Idol' fans and though his name is Savion Wright, fans might know him by Noivas. The young artiste was a fan favorite among the audience in Season 13 as well as Season 14. Who is Noivas?

Noivas was born on March 12, 1992, in Galveston, Texas to Rosalind and Douglas Wright Sr. Noivas started taking bass guitar lessons from his oldest brother when was just 6 years old and continued to develop his musical talent in the early years. Noivas used to sing solos in his fathers' church. He is renowned for his stint in Season 13 and Season 14 of 'American Idol'. 

Unfortunately, Noivas had to face the tragic loss of his older brother during Season 13 of the show. Alfred Wright, Noivas older brother was found dead with his teeth and tongue missing. It was a horrible fate and while the official reports have put the cause of death down as a drug overdose, Alfred's family members aren't convinced. It was rumored that Alfred was dating a white relative of someone in Law enforcement so his death might have been a murder stemming from racism. Alfred's widow and a foreman insisted that the drug autopsy was merely a smokescreen to hide the reality.

Now, nearly 8 years after this heartbreaking loss, Noivas is back in the game and will compete in 'The Voice Season 23. In the meantime, Noivas released an EP and some original works one of which 'Breathing Underwater' which is dedicated to his late brother. Noivas had impressed the judges with this song in his 'American Idol' audition. Noivas has had two young girls since his time on 'American Idol', gotten married, earned a master's degree in management information systems from Lamar University, and been chosen to lead the Democratic platform committee for Senate District 5 in Texas.



 

'American Idol' alum Noivas to debut in 'The Voice' Season 23

Noivas is well known for his appearance in two 'American Idol' seasons. He participated in 'American Idol's' seasons 13 and 14, reaching the Top 30 and Top 24 in each season before being eliminated. He was one of the eight competitors eliminated in season 14 of the show. Noivas initially appeared on American Idol at the age of 21 and won over the judges with his original song, 'The Dark Side of Me.' During Hollywood Week, he impressed them with another original, 'Breathing Underwater.'He was eliminated before the semifinals in Season 13. This year he is all set to premiere in 'The Voice' Season 23. In an early release of his blind audition, Noivas stunned the fans and judges with his amazing vocals. He turned 4 chairs with one block. Kelly, Naill, and Chance all three judges tried to convince the artist to pick them. Noivas's decision will be revealed in the show's first episode.

'The Voice'  Season 23 will air at 8 pm ET on NBC, starting Monday, March 6, 2023.
