'The Voice' 2022 Battles: Did John Legend make mistake crowning Valerie Harding winner? Fans say 'Dia won hands down'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Pitting two powerhouse vocalists against each other during 'The Voice' battles round is never a good idea. Coach John Legend learned this first hand when he pitted Valerie Harding against Dia Malai for the season 22 battles.

With the help of Team Legend's battle advisor- Jazmine Sullivan, John helped the duo polish off their performance to Sullivan's 'Bust Your Windows'. Interestingly enough, Dia and Valarie brought two very different things to the table. While Dia delivered a whole experience with her sassy attitude and persona during the performance, Valarie focussed on just her vocals, leaving the coaches awestruck. When it was finally time to perform before the coaches and studio audience, Dia and Valarie did a spectacular job.

After watching the duo's batle, the coaches couldn't stop raving about the performance. Though both Camila Cabello and Blake Shelton picked Dia as their winner, thanks to her theatrics and strong stage presence, John , however chose Valerie ad the winner. On account of not gettignsaved by John or being stolen by other coaches, Dia's journey in the competition was cut short.

After watching Dia's elimination, many fans took to Twitter and the show's YouTube clips to express their disagreement with John's judgement. Though John explained the reasoning behind his "tough decision" by pointing out that the show was called 'The voice' and focussed on vocals, so he picked Valerie, fans weren't happy. A fan tweeted, "@johnlegend #TheVoice You are the expert but(aab) I think You should have kept Dia..." "Dia Malai shouldve won that battle, thatwas so wrong.@johnlegend #TheVoice," wrote a fan. "Welp', no matter what John Legend said, Dia absolutely won to me. She's right, we've not seen the last of her. She will be on top," commented a fan pn the show's YouTube clip of the battle round. 

Another fan shared, "Both these ladies did a very great job with this great song choice. But I definitely would’ve gone with Dia. She just seemed more believable with this song and she also seems to have more control over her voice." "They’re both amazing but Dia was just stealing the show for me even if Valerie was a little more technically perfect. Dia has amazing vocals and stage performance skills. She electrifies you and makes you feel everything!" echoed a fan. "I definitely like Dia better because her voice is thicker, rounder and not too thin and sharp for ears comfort. She also looks more current," noted a fan. "Dia won hands down no competition," declared a fan.

'The Voice' Season 22 airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.
