The film is about two best friends Sophie (Sophia Anne Caruso) and Agatha (Sofia Wylie). Whilst both were sure about being placed into school for good and evil respectively, things change drastically for both Sophie and Agatha. When is ‘The School for Good and Evil’ releasing and where can you watch it?

The film ‘The School for Good and Evil’ would be globally released in September 2022 on Netflix. The exact release date has not yet been revealed by the makers.

What is the plot of ‘The School for Good and Evil’?

The plot of the fantasy film revolves around two best friends Sophie (Sophia Anne Caruso) and Agatha (Sofia Wylie). Both of them are about to learn where the fairytale legacies go to school. In The School for Good and Evil, all normal girls and boys are given the training to be fairytale heroes and villains. Sophie and Agatha are sure they’d be picked by the school for good and evil respectively. Things change for the girls drastically when both of their fates and fortunes are reversed as Sophie is put into School For Evil and Agatha is put in School For Good. Their friendship is tested in this fantasy film which also has doses of comedy and thriller to keep fans hooked on the screens.

The official synopsis reads, “Best friends Sophie and Agatha are about to discover where fairytale legacies go to school: the School for Good and Evil, where ordinary boys and girls are trained to be fairy tale heroes and villains. With her princess ambitions, Sophie knows she'll be picked for the School for Good and join the ranks of past students like Cinderella and Snow White. Meanwhile, Agatha, with her grim aesthetic and wicked cat, seems a natural fit for the villains in the School for Evil. Yet soon the girls find their fortunes reversed: Sophie is dropped into the School for Evil, Agatha into the School for Good. But what if the mistake is the first clue to discovering who Sophie and Agatha really are? Their friendship will be put to the test in this thrilling and comedic story where the only way out of a fairy tale is to live through one”.

Charlize Theron as Lady Lesso

The 46-years-old Oscar award-winning star debuted in film industry with ‘The Devil’s Advocate’. She has given some of the finest performances in films like ‘Monster’, ‘North Country’, ‘The Italian Job’, ‘Hancock’, ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’, ‘Prometheus’, ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, ‘The Huntsman: Winter’s War’, ‘The Fate of the Furious’, ‘Atomic Blonde’, ‘The Old Guard’, ‘Young Adult’, ‘Tully’ and ‘F9’. Charlize is going to be seen playing the lead role of Lady Lesso in much awaited YA (young adult) themed fantasy film ‘The School for Good and Evil’ that will release on Netflix.

Latest news about ‘The School for Good and Evil’ film

The film ‘The School for Good and Evil’ has been extensively filmed and shot in Belfast, Ireland. The big-budget film set was created at St. Peters Church of Ireland on the Antrim Road in North Belfast where the majority of the film has been shot. The film production and shooting also happened at Belfast Harbour Studios and Loop Film Studios. Local sites within North Belfast (Ireland) where the film ‘The School for Good and Evil’ has been shot include St Peter's Church, St Anne's Cathedral, Mount Stewart, Ulster Folk Museum, Clandeboye Estate, Big Dog Forest, Woodburn Forest and Castle Archdale. The filming began in April 2021 and wrapped up in July 2021 in North Belfast, Ireland where all the COVID 19 related norms had been followed by the cast and crew.

‘The School for Good and Evil’ film has been directed Paul Feig. The screenplay for the film has been written by Soman Chainani alongside Paul Feig, Soman Chainani, Vanessa Taylor and David Magee. The film has been produced by Paul Feig, Jane Startz, Joe Roth, Laura Fischer, and Jeff Kirschenbaum. The film is based on the original fantasy YA (young adult) themed 2013 best-selling novel written by Soman Chainani.

In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter dated back to May 2020, author Soman Chainani talking about the film said, “To have one of your favorite directors adapt your book into a film for Netflix is an honor and a dream. Paul Feig is a brilliant filmmaker and a master of tone. a perfect fit for the twists and turns of The School for Good & Evil. I have no doubt that he will make a true fairy tale classic”. He added, “I’m truly excited to bring this amazing, touching, funny and empowering world that Soman created in his wonderful books to life. I feel like a frog that just turned into a prince”.
