‘The Yin Yang Master: Dream of Eternity’: Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about the Chinese fantasy movie
‘The Yin Yang Master: Dream of Eternity’ is a Chinese fantasy film directed by Guo Jinming and features Mark Chao, Allen Deng and Jessie Li in the prominent roles. The fantasy drama film is adapted from the Onmyoji, a novel by Baku Yumemakura. In Asia, the Onmyogi franchise has been top-rated as it has multiple comic books, TV shows and Kabuki performances. ‘The Yin Yang Master: Dream of Eternity’ marks the second official film adaptation since the original Japanese movie was released in 2001.
While talking about the movie to Netflix, writer-director Jinming expressed his excitement in creating a fantasy drama for the global audience. “My biggest takeaway from adapting such an oriental aesthetics classic is how to work with the creative team to visualize such a mysterious, elegant, yet dangerous and challenging oriental world in all aspects. I hope Netflix members will enjoy the world of The Yin-Yang Master and find their own fun in this fantasy journey,” Jinming said.

Plot
In ‘The Yin Yang Master: Dream of Eternity’, we will see young Yin-Yang Master Qinming traveling to The Capital on his Master’s orders, where he attends a Heaven ceremony. During the event, Qingming is asked to seal a demon serpent for good, preventing the demon serpent from waking from its 300-years of sleep and plaguing the world all over again. However, the newly released demon serpent is mightier than before and Qingming gets together with a warrior named Boya, Master Nanjiang and Master Heshou to eliminate the demon serpent. Yin-Yang Master Qinming will also find himself amid an earth-shattering conspiracy against The Capital’s princess, Ziwen Wang.

Mark Chao as Qingming
Chao, 36, is a Taiwanese-Canadian actor and model. He made his acting debut in 2009 when he starred in a TV series titled ‘Black & White’. Over the years, Chao has starred in several acclaimed projects like ‘First Time’ alongside Angela Wing, reprised his role as Wu Yingxiong in the prequel of ‘Black & White’ and portrayed the role of Di Renjie in ‘Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon’.
Allen Deng as Boya
Deng, 28, aka Lun Deng, started his acting career by starring as Xu Hao in ‘Flowers in Fog’. He later had a reprising role as Yao Afei in 2014’s drama series ‘New Moment in Peking’. Over the years, Deng has worked on several notable projects like ‘Great Escape’, ‘Skate Into Love’, and ‘Bing Tang Dun Xue Li’.
Jessie Li as Long Ye
Li, 28, professionally known as Chun Xia, is best known for starring in the 2015 movie ‘Port of Call’, which earned her a Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actress. Other than ‘Port of Call’, Li has starred in projects like ‘Our Time Will Come’ and ‘The Hidden Sword’.
Netflix’s ‘The Yin Yang Master: Dream of Eternity’ will also feature Duo Wang playing the role of He Shouyue and Ziwen wang portraying the Princess' role.
