Bruce was about to meet Sadie at the restaurant, but they never got the chance to meet. Sadie not only lost her editor but also a friend.

Bruce was also about to meet Declan Morales, who had sent Sadie a burner phone, but he could not. Later on, Sadie decides to meet him to uncover the truth.

Declan reveals to Sadie that Dick Braun financed Felicity's PAC anonymously. Dick was one of Felicity’s major donors in the previous election cycle, but after being implicated in a scandal, she distanced herself from him and returned his money.

It appears Dick wants to take revenge from Felicity. However, Sadie suspects that Dick must have been collaborating with another candidate behind the scenes to ensure the success of his plan.

After Bruce's death, Sadie is determined to uncover the mastermind behind the plan to tarnish Felicity's reputation.

In the last scene, Malcolm (Brandon Scott), who came to Sadie's room to console her after Bruce's death, offers his assistance. Together, they piece together the puzzle to identify the man who aided Dick in his scheme.

They initially suspect Biff de la Peña (Mark Consuelos), another presidential candidate. However, they later read a news article by Grace Gordon Greene (Carla Gugino) stating that he is no longer in the presidential race.

Sadie realizes that Hayden Wells Garrett (Scott Foley) is the only viable option. She starts to reflect on past events and realizes how he always used to suggest that she write articles about him.

The last scene of Episode 8 shows Hayden on a phone call discussing Felicity's controversy and Sadie. This scene implies that Hayden might be the person who sent Sadie the burner phone.

In Episode 9, Sadie finally learns that a man paid Dick to damage Felicity's reputation, and with Biff out of the race, Hayden emerges as the only remaining suspect.
