'One The Woman': The Boyz's Younghoon and Weki Meki's Doyeon show sparkling chemistry

Younghoon and Doyeon to play the younger versions of the main leads in this rom-com about switched identities

Idols are getting more and more opportunities to get into acting with the likes of SF9's Rowoon and GOT7’s Jinyoung taking over the K-drama scene. The second half of 2021 itself has more than 20 ongoing and upcoming K-dramas starring veteran idol actors and idols making their acting debuts. One of them happens to be ‘One The Woman’ starring idols like EXID’s Jeonghwa, The Boyz’s Younghoon and Weki Meki’s Doyeon.

‘One The Woman’ is a rom-com with a case of swapped identities as Honey Lee’s character, a corrupted lawyer gets into an accident, loses her memories and is mistaken for the innocent daughter of a ‘chaebol’ family. The beguiling female lead’s younger version is played by Doyeon while Younghoon plays the younger version of the male lead. Along with Honey Lee, Lee Sangyoon plays the male lead in the present who cannot seem to forget his first love. We will see their younger versions through flashbacks.

Younghoon and Doyeon in 'One The Woman'

Expectations are already high since viewers are yet to find out whether the first love is the corrupted lawyer or the naive daughter. With Honey Lee playing both of the female characters, Doyeon will be doing the same in the flashbacks. And while Doyeon has been acting since 2015 with her first main role in ‘Idol Fever’ in 2017, ‘One The Woman’ is her most compelling K-drama yet. Fans of the idol are excited to see her take on this challenge with two characters.

Similarly, Younghoon too has graced the small screen before. He played the main role in the 2020 K-drama ‘Love Revolution’. Looks like 2021 is the year for The Boyz to branch out as another member has also landed an acting gig. Juhaknyeon is debuting in the Netflix horror anthology series ‘Goedam 2’ which has an idol ensemble cast. Earlier, in February, Hyunjae also had his acting debut with ‘I Can See Your MBTI’.

Additionally, SBS has also released the first stills of ‘One The Woman’ in which we see Younghoon and Doyeon’s characters walk in a garden as they look at each other lovingly. Fans couldn’t help but notice how good they looked together and the chemistry they exuded. In the press release, even the crew confessed that the two brought "lively energy" the moment they came on set. They added, “The two created a beautiful scene like a page in a fairy tale with smiles and eyes that captured the emotions of first love.”

'Two gorgeous Kims'

Fans ended up trending Doyeon and Younghoon to hype the idols up. One proud Ke-ling brought back Doyeon’s first acting role where she did a cameo in ‘To Be Continued’, “Actor doyeon how it started      how it’s going.” A Deobi tweeted, "YOUNGHOON AND DOYEON IM GONNA SCREAM AHHHHSHDJSJ." Another pointed out that both Doyeon and Younghoon's family names are Kim and added, "LOOK AT THIS TWO GORGEOUS KIM!!! KIM YOUNGHOON FROM THE BOYZ & KIM DOYEON FROM WEKIMEKI YALLLL." One fan also noticed that Younghoon was in Doyeon's project group, I.O.I's music video, "Young hoon x Doyeon 2016    2021." Another said, "Doyeon is in another drama and i am so proud of her. One posted, "Are you ready?actor younghoon is back ♡." "Really can't wait to see actor younghoon growth because it's already his second time. he's gonna do even more better than he did in love revolution," said another.

The K-drama will air from September 17 at 10 pm KST (9 am ET) on SBS’ channel.
