LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In contrast to the first season of 'The Baxters', which focused mostly on Ali Cobrin (Kari Baxter), the second season of the show is more focused on other family members.

An official adaptation of Karen Kingsbury's best-selling novels, the series explores themes such as love, faith, betrayal, and family connection.

The series follows John Baxter (Ted McGinley) and  Elizabeth Baxter (Roma Downey), who are parents to five adult children.

From the beginning of the series, it was clear that the Baxters are firm believers in God and hold a high regard for their faith.

In the sixth episode of season 2, titled 'Allure', the family was startled when an unexpected shooting incident occurred during their Sunday church.

The Baxters were seen preparing to meet with her father, Tom Decker (David Goryl), at New Grace Community Church to discuss their intentions.

The family seemed excited to see Tom, as they planned to take him to breakfast after church.

However, as they were about to enter the chapel, their world was turned upside down by the loud sound of blazing gunshots, which surprised them.

The church breaks out in chaos, prompting many to flee for their lives. Meanwhile, Kari contacts 911 and reports the horrible shooting occurrence.

As the gunfire appears to have subsided, John suggests returning to the church to assist people.

Luke attempts to join him, but he instead kisses Elizbeth and instructs them to leave the grounds and run away as far as they can.

The family appears to be still in shock and struggles to grasp the gravity of the situation with worried and scared emotions, as the screen goes black.

'The Baxters' is now streaming on Prime Video
