KYOTO, JAPAN: 'Sunny', a new Apple TV+ series created by Katie Robbins, dives right into the mystery in the premiere episodes to keep the viewers engaged.

'Sunny' puts together a unique combination of grief, mystery, dark humor, and technology, thus offering an intense watching experience in weeks to come.

The series revolves around Suzie Sakamoto (Rashida Jones), a grieving woman who resorts to alcohol after her husband and son go missing.

When an old man named Yuki Tanaka (Jun Kunimura) gifts her a robot named Sunny, she begins to uncover shocking secrets about her husband.

At the center of the plot is the mystery behind the disappearance of Suzie's family and what her husband Masa (Hidetoshi Nishijima) was hiding all along.

It also puts Masa's electronics company called Imatech under scrutiny where someone's murder was covered up before Masa vanished.

In the middle of all these mysteries, Suzie has also got a stalker. In Episode 1, we see a man tracking Suzie as she walks on the streets alone. He even sends Suzie's footage to someone else, saying "We're on her."

In Episode 2, his espionage continues as he sends his robot to her home. The robot disguises itself as a staff member from the airline and hands over a pair of shoes that belong to Suzie's son.

The man probably wants Suzie to believe that her husband and son didn't survive the plane crash.

In the two episodes, released on July 10, the identity of the stalker or his intentions haven't been revealed. But it seems that the person probably knew Masa and the work he was doing.

When his robot returned from Suzie's home, it mentioned that he couldn't read Sunny's code. This indicates that he probably wants to get into Sunny's locked memory.

It may be too early to speculate, but there also might be a connection between the stalker and the man who was killed at Division 5 of Imatech.

Could Suzie Sakamoto be in danger in 'Sunny'?

The unidentified man is keeping a close eye on Suzie. But it is highly unlikely that he would cause her any harm until things go haywire.

If he wanted, he could have attacked her when she was walking down the road alone or when she left Sunny on the bridge and was at home all by herself. At most, he might be looking for something that belonged to Masa.

The identity of the stalker and his motives will be unveiled in the upcoming episodes.

'Sunny' Episodes 1 and 2 are currently available to stream on Apple TV+.
