Stray Kids 'Oddinary': Stays upset with JYP Entertainment as they announce merch for 'USA only'

JYP Entertainment announced that pre-orders for Stray Kids’ ‘Oddinary’ only from the USA will have a signed photocard which has triggered fans from other countries

The second official fan meeting from JYP Entertainment’s representative boy group, Stray Kids was an eventful evening where members of the group met fans in a closed gathering for two consecutive days. At their second official fan meeting, ‘Stray Kids 2ND #LoveSTAY 'SKZ'S CHOCOLATE FACTORY’ the boy band caused quite the stir as they announced their speedy comeback with a new mini-album, ‘Oddinary’ (Stylized in all caps) that will release on March 18.

The fan meeting which also served as a mini-concert was held on February 12 and 13 while the second day of the show was broadcast live for international fans. On the second day of their fan meeting, Stray Kids surprised fans by announcing their new comeback which drops six months after their last full album comeback, ‘Noeasy’. Stray Kids announced the release of ‘Oddinary’ which is typical to their fashion of wordplay between the words “odd” and “ordinary”.

Stray Kids are known to release albums based on wordplay just like ‘Hellevator’ which is a combination of “hell” and “elevator”, 'Christmas EveL’ which is a combination of “Christmas Eve” and “evil”, ‘Noeasy’ which is a combination of “noisy” and “easy”, among many of their past comebacks.

JYP announces exclusive signed merch for USA Stays

With the announcement of the album, JYP Entertainment quickly dropped announcements stating that the album was open to pre-orders as of February 14. The announcement stated that the pre-orders for Stray Kids’ ninth mini-album, ‘Oddinary’ has opened and that the album will be released on March 18 at 1 pm KST (12 am EST). It was also announced that the album will be released in three different versions called the Frankenstein version, Scanning version, and the Mask Off version.

One thing that the album also included was the disclaimer that said, “Random signed USA ONLY postcard.” This disclaimer meant that fans of Stray Kids that ordered the albums from the USA would get a “random signed photocard” with their albums. The USA label of Stray Kids, Republic Records also stated that these photocards will be signed by the members of Stray Kids by hand which has enraged a lot of fans for multiple reasons.

Some fans were angry at how JYP Entertainment is trying to get more international sales by luring fans from the USA while international fans of the group do not get equal treatment whereas other fans joked about Stray Kids members being overworked as their pre-orders are usually in millions.

'The carpal tunnel they gon get'

Fans of Stray Kids trend the phrase 'USA Only' on Twitter as they rage at the label for preferential treatment to Stays from USA. One fan posted a meme with the caption, "USA only..." Another fan said, "Whyyyyyy is the signed postcard USA only????? JYP is evil." One more fan said, "Usa only? I see how it is have fun with your signed photocards."

One shocked fan said, "There’s a god damn EXCLUSIVE pc for target and a “usa only” signed postcard..." One more fan said, "me reading that the signed postcard is USA only," with a funny photo. One fan shared a photo of Lee Know held at gunpoint with the caption, "US stays rn."

Fans also joked about Stray Kids being overworked as they will have to sign millions of photo cards for USA fans. One fan said, "Damn the carpal tunnel they gon get after signing all those postcards tho." Another fan said, "AND IF US STAYS WILL PRE-ORDER A MILLION ALBUMS, SKZ WILL SIGN A MILLION OF POST CARDS OMG POOR HANDS."

One more fan said, "Stop bullsh*tting are you gonna make chan overwork his wrist?" Another fan called out JYPE saying, "Jype definitely locked skz in one of the practice rooms like they did to twice," with an old video of Twice members signing millions of albums.
