'The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run' release in the year 2020 and is based on the long-time animated TV series 'SpongeBob SquarePants'. Reports revealed that it is the first film in the franchise that is fully animated in CGI instead of 2D animation. The film released in Canada on August 14, 2020, and then on Netflix on November 5, 2021. Now it's set to make its debut on Paraoumount+. Read on to know more about the film.

Paramount Pictures’ animated film titled 'The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run' will premiere on ViacomCBS’s streaming service Paramount+ and on PVOD as a $19.99 rental from Paramount Home Entertainment on March 4, 2021.

Plot

IMDb's synopsis of the film reads, "After SpongeBob's beloved pet snail Gary is snail-napped, he and Patrick embark on an epic adventure to The Lost City of Atlantic City to bring Gary home."

The original list of voice artists reprises their roles, as is in all SpongeBob productions with Tim Hill as the voice of the narrator, Clancy Brown voicing Mr. Krabs, Bill Fagerbakke voicing Patrick Star. Rodger Bumpass voicing Squidward, Mr. Lawrence voicing Plankton, Carolyn Lawrence voicing Sandy, Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, Jill Talley as Karen, and many more.

Kenny, who grew up in East Syracuse, New York has voiced the beloved animated character a while now but has been part of many other productions. He's the voice of Wheels from 'Transformers' franchise such as 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' (2011) and 'Transformers: The Last Knight' (2017). He was also the voice of Turtle / Roy in the TV series 'Bobcat Goldthwait's Misfits & Monsters' (2018), the voice of the The Wizard in 'Dorothy's Christmas in Oz' (2018), the voice of Quimp in 'Star Trek: Lower Decks', the voice of Fleech in 'Fearless' (2020) and many others. Kenny has won two Daytime Emmy Awards one in 2018 and the other in 2020 for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for 'SpongeBob SquarePants'.

The movie is directed by Tim Hill, with Hill, Jonathan Aibel, Glenn Berger, Stephen Hillenburg, Derek Drymon, and Nicholas R. Jennings serving as writers. The movie was developed by Drymon and Jennings. Marie Balland serves as a line producer, Pierre Escande serves as an additional line producer, Ryan Harris serves as a producer and Stephen Hillenburg serves as executive producer. The film is produced by Paramount Animation, Nickelodeon Movies, and United Plankton Pictures, with animation provided by Mikros Image.
