With K-pop agencies having to navigate a tough industry, making sure their artists excel as well as stay financially stable, a lot of the time they come at odds with fans who do not agree with their methods. Cube Entertainment happens to be one such company that has often come under fire for alleged mistreatment as fans have not been happy with the way they have treated their idols. They have been the center of three of the most infamous K-pop scandals as they kicked out Hyuna and Dawn for dating, let Soojin go instead of resolving her bullying scandal, and erased BTOB’s Ilhoon immediately after rumors of him smoking marijuana cropped up. And now, CLC fans are creating an uproar as well.

While CLC was an up-and-coming girl group in 2015, they started fading away over the years as their comebacks became less infrequent until they went on an unofficial hiatus before simply disbanding on May 20. Previously, Elkie had left the group in 2021, followed by Sorn. Yujin, on the other hand, was inactive as she joined the project group Kep1er. Well, on June 10, Sorn did an interview with a Thai media outlet that has now gone viral as she got vocal about the alleged mistreatment by Cube while she was in CLC.

'Worst company ever': Cube Entertainment blasted for announcing CLC's disbandment

Sorn talks about the hardships of being a K-pop trainee

We had several Thai fans translating the interview in which Sorn talked about how CLC had to fight for creative freedom. She also shockingly revealed that Cube and even other companies used to have CCTVs in their training rooms to see if anyone slacked off. Sorn shared that Cube initially did not want her to study and she had to negotiate for it but ended up dropping out anyway as the training was rigorous. She revealed that they had sleeping mats in the practice room as they used to finish training late at night and were too tired to walk to their dorms.

CLC's mistreated by Cube Entertainment

Sorn also spoke about how she and the other Thai idols like Blackpink’s Lisa, GOT7’s Bambam, and NCT’s Ten all became friends. Sorn also talked about how Cube did not let CLC have one constant image or concept which is probably why they failed, according to the members. She also revealed that despite fans responding positively to one concept, the agency again changed the group’s concept. Fans were also impressed that the concepts and comebacks that CLC fought and were responsible for were their best eras – ‘Hobgoblin’, ‘Black Dress’, and ‘No’.

Sorn also thanked former labelmate Hyuna, who spoke up for CLC when Cube forced the girls to slim down to fit into their outfits. The soloist was the one who requested the stylists to pick outfits that would suit the members instead. Sorn also talked about what actually went down during the last days of CLC as a group. During talks of contract expiration, Cube allegedly wanted the members to focus on just individual activities. Sorn said that this is why she left earlier despite wanting to be with CLC. But like GFriend and Viviz, fans have hope as Sorn added that the members still have a passion for CLC and can go further. Their reunion seems evident as well since some of the members are also often seen hanging out together.

‘Never seen any company as incompetent’

Knetizens were blunt as they made comments like, “If they're so incompetent, they should just let the idols plan for everything. Oh Gosh, CUBE. I have never seen any company as incompetent as you,” and “What does CUBE do then? The strategy and marketing planning, even the producing are all done by the idols.” One fan was hopeful, “I know Sorn has got something or is planning something as a reunion, she loves the members and the group WAY too much for nothing to happen.”

Another fan made a reaction meme, “Reading what CLC went through because of the blue box.” One fan added, “Sorn saying they never wanted a solo career and they all wanted clc over everything makes the yujin going to gp999 sm sadder:(((( she truly just wanted to get on stage again and the fact she went with all the support in the world from the crystals themselves:((( so proud of her.”

Another shared, “After watching Sorn on that interview, I feel like CLC girls would be more than happy to redebut. Just by the way they talk about each other and the love they have for CLC. If it's in two years or ten, I'll be here to support them. They deserve the things c*be took away from them.” One fan was upset, “Truly disappointing, cube…”
