Marvel announced that the era of new superheroes is upon us as they announced the new slate of projects coming out in the upcoming Phase 5 and Phase 6 of the shared universe (movie and TV). One of the projects that have been in the works for some time is ‘Secret Invasion’ and surprisingly, fans got to see the first footage from the show at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego. However, the production company had a bit of a snafu during the event when they sent an email to the press with all the information about the projects that they just announced.

The email announced that Rege-Jean Page will be seen playing a mysterious role in the upcoming Marvel TV series, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Olivia Colman, Cobie Smulders, and Emilia Clarke. If you are one of those who got excited that the ‘Bridgerton’ star finally became a part of the Marvel Universe, then we have some bad news for you. Marvel has come out with the clarification about the mail they sent earlier because Page is NOT a part of the upcoming Disney+ show.

The production company tweeted the updated list of cast and confirmed the error by saying that the “previous cast list incorrectly also included Rege-Jean Page”. Meanwhile, a Marvel spokesperson told TV Line that the inclusion of ‘The Gray Man’ star was an accident.
Although Marvel has clarified their stance on the matter, a lot of people believe that the actor might show up in the credits scene of the series and this was something that was meant to be a “secret”. On the other hand, some joked that Page was fired and hired within a few hours.

One of the social media users said, “Bro was hired and fired within a few hours”. Another social media user wrote, “Lol, this just means he’s going to show up as a major character in a post-credit scene and they f****d up and revealed it early”. Another user noted, “Well, of course, they say that. If we knew all their secrets, it would just be called ‘invasion’”.
Meanwhile, one of the users thanked Marvel for correcting the mistake and didn’t want Page to be a part of the aforementioned superhero universe.

As per Marvel, Jackson will return as Nick Fury while Ben Mendelsohn will be back as Skull Talos. They are joined by Colman, Clarke, and Kingsley Ben-Adir. The show is set 30 years after ‘Captain Marvel’ and the first meeting between Fury and Talos. The duo get together uncover a conspiracy when it’s revealed alien invaders have infiltrated all aspect of life on planet Earth. If the show accurately follows the comic books, then the entire Marvel Universe is thrown into chaos when superheroes get to know that some of the shape-shifting Skrulls are posing as some of the most powerful people on the planet.

The upcoming series is a part of ‘The Multiverse Sage’, which is also known as Phase 5 of the Marvel Universe. Other projects to feature in the aforementioned phase include ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’, ‘Echo’, and ‘Loki’ Season 2.

‘Secret Invasion’ will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in Spring 2023.
