LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Cillian Murphy achieved the pinnacle of success at the Oscars 2024 by securing the Best Actor award for his performance in 'Oppenheimer'.

The acclaimed actor's portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer in the epic biographical thriller has garnered well-deserved recognition during this year's awards season.

The Best Actor category featured a competitive lineup of talented nominees like Bradley Cooper for 'Maestro', Colman Domingo for 'Rustin', Paul Giamatti for 'The Holdovers' and Jeffrey Wright for 'American Fiction'.

However, disappointment echoed among a section of the internet, as fans of Paul Giamatti were left disappointed with the best actor pick at the 96th Academy Awards.

Many expressed their belief that Giamatti deserved the accolade more, noting that he was unjustly overlooked for Cillian Murphy, whose performance in 'Oppenheimer' generated plenty of hype on social media.

"I'm so bummed about paul giamatti losing the best actor oscar that i'm changing my profile picture to chet the snail from the 2013 dreamworks animated film "turbo" for a week. i have become paul giamatti snail," said one. "I feel like Paul Giamatti deserved the Oscar for Best Actor. Also I think The Holdovers should’ve won for best original screenplay. Just my opinion," said another. A third added: "Cillian Murphy is a deserving Best Actor Oscar winner, but it’s a shame Paul Giamatti hasn’t won one yet. He was superb in “The Holdovers”.

Fans of Giamatti showed their support and admiration for the actor, calling him a "king" and expressing confidence that his time to win the Best Actor award would come in the future.

"Paul Giamatti, you KING! My Best Actor still your time will soon come soon." A critic added, "Cillian Murphy was great in “Oppenheimer” but Paul Giamatti was absolutely robbed for the best actor Oscar."

Emma Stone secured the Best Actress award at the Oscars for her remarkable performance in 'Poor Things'.

In the Yorgos Lanthimos-directed film, she portrayed Bella Baxter, a young woman in Victorian London, who runs off with a lawyer on a whirlwind adventure across the continents.

“It’s about a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts. And that is the best part about making movies, is all of us together. And I am so deeply honored to share this with every cast member, with every crew member, with every single person who poured their love and their care and their brilliance into the making of this film," she noted while receiving the award. 

Stone continued: "I really just want to thank my family, my mom, my brother, Spencer, my dad, my husband, Dave [McCary]. I love you so much. And most importantly, my daughter who’s gonna be three in three days and has turned our lives technicolor. I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl. So thank you so much. Don't look at the back of my dress. Thank you."

How many awards did 'Oppenheimer' receive at the Oscars 2024?

'Oppenheimer' dominated the Oscars night, securing victory in seven out of its 13 Oscar nominations. The film triumphed in significant categories, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor in a Leading Role, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role. 

Meanwhile, its summer rival, 'Barbie', secured only one win on Sunday night despite earning eight Oscar nominations. Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell won Best Achievement in Music for their original song in the fantasy comedy.
