Netflix's 'Transatlantic’ Episode 5: Love blooms in times of war

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Transatlantic,’ a WWII drama, just dropped on Netflix. The series has talented stars like Gillian Jacobs from ‘Community’ and ‘Gotham’ alum Cory Michael Smith in the lead. Based on the book 'The Flight Portfolio' by Julie Orringer, the Netflix show highlights historic moments, capturing in particular the plight of Jews in conquered France during World War II.

The series is based on a true story of a heroic rescue team led by American journalist Varian Fry. He, along with his supporters, formed the Emergency Rescue Committee (ERC) to assist thousands of refugees to flee Nazi-occupied France. The limited series on Netflix is co-created by Anna Winger known for 'Unorthodox' and Daniel Hendler. The episodes have been directed by Stephanie Chuat, Veronique Reymond, and Mia Meyer. Winger also produced 'Transatlantic' alongside Camille McCurry.

Love can be a beacon of hope

Mary Jayne Gold takes on the mission to break out POWs from prison. She takes the help of Paul and Albert, along with Lisa. They get the list of prisoners, and that includes Lisa's husband. The team decides to get him out too, despite all the dangers. The mission is carried out smoothly, and it's a win for everyone.

As the episode unfolds, many lovers reconcile and have their beautiful moments. There is love sparkling between Gold and Hirschman, while Lisa reconnects with her husband. Even Fry and Thomas get over their differences as they can be seen together having a good time.

The team celebrates Christmas in the villa, having happy moments and making memories. They have that peaceful break amidst the violence where everyone is together celebrating the rare, undisputed win for the team. Lost in love and happiness, the team is unaware of  what is coming their way.
