Who stars in 'Transatlantic'? Meet the cast of Netflix's period drama series
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Emergency Rescue Committee, established by Varin Fry, was the inspiration for the historical adventures described in Julie Orringer's 2019 novel 'The Flight Portfolio', which serves as the basis for the Netflix limited series period drama 'Transatlantic'. A journalist named Varian Fry organizes safe transportation for refugees from Nazi-occupied France to the United States in the short-lived drama series.
The limited series is co-created by Anna Winger and Daniel Hendler, and it is directed by Stephanie Chuat, Veronique Reymond, and Mia Meyer. Together with Camille McCurry, Anna Winger is also producing 'Transatlantic'.

Gillian Jacobs
‘Community’ alum Gillian Jacobs star as American heiress Mary Jayne Gold in ‘Transatlantic’ who helps American Journalist Varian Fry to help the artist and writers flee France via safe passages. The creator of the show stated that Jacobs was perfect for the role of Mary as she needed someone who had a kind of old-world sensibility, a kind of Katharine Hepburn glamor heroine who’s also really smart but has funny bones, so she can do those scenes, but is also a dramatic actress. The actress has appeared in various projects including ‘The Contractor’, ‘North Hollywood’, ‘Magic Camp’, ‘Come Play’, ‘Ibiza’, ‘Life of the Party’, etc.
Cory Michael Smith
‘Gotham’ alum Cory Michael Smith stars as the protagonist American Journalist Varian Fry on the show who goes beyond his lengths to artists and writers flee France via safe passages. The actor has appeared on shows including ‘Camp X-Ray’, ‘Carol’, ‘ Wonderstruck’ along with appearing on ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s on Broadway. In 2018, Smith confirmed that he identifies as queer.
Lucas Englander
Lucas Englander stars as Albert Hirschman in ‘Transatlantic’ who is a right-hand man to Varian Fry and had shared in one of his interviews that he was unstoppable in seeking out his role because of his reconnection to his family history. Englander added that when he was preparing for the role, he read the lines with his mother and he couldn’t stop crying as she reminded him of Deda’s heroic exploits. While later working on the series with a friend, “I needed between five and ten minutes of a break after every take, because I suddenly realized that my family is not Jewish anymore. It’s OK, but it wasn’t our choice.”
Amit Rahav
Amit Rahav plays Thomas Lovegrove on the show. He is an Israeli actor who is best known for his appearance on 'Unorthodox' on Netflix. The actor was raised as a secular Jew and continues to define himself as the same.
Yoli Fuller
Yoli Fuller portrays the role of Souleymane TOURE in ‘Transatlantic’ who is a fellow hotel worker on the show. The actor has appeared in projects including ‘The Widow’, ‘Marie Antoinette’, ‘On the Line’ and ‘One Belle Histoire’.

Corey Stoll stars as Graham Patterson on the show 'Transatlantic' on Netflix who isn’t sympathetic to the plight of the refugees. Stoll is of course no stranger to screens thanks to his roles in 'House of Cards', 'Billions', 'Dark Woods', and 'Ratched'.
