Netflix's 'Beef': Furious fans call Joseph Lee's character George the 'real villain'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix has finally dropped one of the most highly anticipated shows of the year with 'Beef'. The dark-comedy show kicks off with a road rage incident between Amy Lau (Ali Wong) and Danny Cho (Steven Yeun) and leads to both of them ruining each other's life and their own. Extreme human emotions are a major driver of the story. While the leads take the center stage in the show, there is one particular side character on 'Beef' that fans did not like very much at all.
The Netflix dark-comedy introduces the viewer to the families of both the leads. George Nakai (Joseph Lee) plays Amy's husband in 'Beef'. George is a house husband and takes care of their daughter, June (Remy Holt). While George seems like a nice person with soft characteristics, his subtle, passive-aggressive behaviour led fans to hate his character.

George raises many red flags with his behavior
George Nakai is, at first, shown as one of the most positive, calm and collected people in the series. He has been Amy's rock as she built her business. George is an artist, who makes vases but always doubts his talents and needs approval. The reason for it is that his father used to be a well-known artist. George makes Amy sell his art at Amy's store but Amy can not stand the sight of his vases.
But as the show unfolds, George's behavior raises some overlooked red flags as well. Underneath his positive approach, is a man who does bad things and tries to mask it cleverly. He flirts with Mia (Mia Serafino), Amy's employee for a while and though he comes clean about this with Amy, he tries to cover up his mistake for a long time. Even when confessing his relationship with Mia, George added it by saying he had "emotional entanglement" with her and not a physical relationship. He also criticizes Amy subtly despite knowing just how hard she works. George then files for divorce from Amy after she confesses her mistakes. And these behaviours made fans feel he was the "real villain" all along.
