Spoilers ahead for 'Beef' Episode 9
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Love is a universal concept. It is simple yet complex, easy yet tricky. Love, like all other human emotions, is complicated. And for a show that runs its core element on extreme human emotions and consequences, Netflix's 'Beef' sure projects the extremeness in love through several major characters in the series.
Up to this point in the series, anger and resentment were the prominent emotions for the series. But the ninth episode, titled 'The Great Fabricator', showed the extreme love of several characters - Amy Lau (Ali Wong) for her daughter Junie/June (Remy Holt), Naomi (Ashley Park) for Jordan (Maria Bello) and Danny Cho (Steven Yeun) for Paul (Young Mazino). The penultimate episode of Netflix's 'Beef' has also shown us the uncompromising and brutal consequences that stem from extreme love.

Amy Lau, throughout the series, has shown her disregard for her life. Amy is overworked and tired all the time. Amy is haunted by the past and has depression and anger issues as well. She is badly in need of a vacation and the only thing that keeps Amy intact is being with her family and most importantly with her daughter June. Amy has always expressed her love for her daughter and is tiring herself at work for her June. And when June is accidentally kidnapped and a ransom of $500,000 is demanded, Amy pulls all the ends to keep her daughter safe. Amy even throws her boss/friend Jordan under the bus by informing the kidnappers to come and steal the valuables at Jordan's house. Amy risks the lives of others just to keep her daughter safe. This leads to some extreme chaos in Jordan's house.
The love of a girlfriend
Naomi is Jordan's former sister-in-law and current romantic partner. Naomi's love for Jordan has been foreshadowed throughout the season, including multiple times Naomi got jealous of the bond that Amy and Jordan share. However, when the kidnappers hold Amy, Naomi and Jordan at gunpoint, Jordan passes a remark about leaving Naomi, which sends her to the edge. So when Naomi and Jordan try to flee to the panic room, Naomi closes the door mid-way, crushing Jordan to a pulp. In Naomi's case, her extreme love towards Jordan went sideways and to actual deadly consequences.
The love of a brother
Danny has always been the protecter of his big brother Paul. So when Paul tries to enter college and move away, an attached and overprotective Danny throws out all of Paul's college applications. When the brothers were trapped in Jordan's house, Danny comes clean about one of his worst mistakes to Paul and lets him escape the police. Danny finally learned to let go of his beloved brother. Though Danny escapes later, he is unable to get in touch with Paul. Danny's extreme love for Paul made him not only ruin his brother's life but he also ultimately lost the place he had in his brother's life.
