LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Netflix debut of A24's dark comedy series 'Beef', starring Ali Wong and Oscar contender Steven Yeun, is scheduled for April 6. It will be Ali Wong's first major lead role in a series, marking both a professional and a personal milestone for her. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress revealed that when she was filming the program, her ex-husband Justin Hakuta told her it was incredibly wonderful and that he has a feeling their lives would alter once more.

After eight years of marriage and two children, Mari Hakuta and Nikki Hakuta are reported to be more resilient than ever after they announced their divorce in April 2022. The comedian said she was astounded that the news of their divorce had reached Chinese and Vietnamese newspapers because it had been so widely reported.

But, Ali said that her mother's response was particularly difficult since she was distraught and had urged her to reconsider her choice. Ali stated that the hardest aspect was overcoming her dread of the disgrace it would bring her, noting that her mother had essentially "passed away a million times in one day" before waking up and saying she had survived.

Who is Justin Hakuta?

Entrepreneur Justin Hakuta, of Japanese and Filipino descent, graduated with an MBA from Harvard Management School and a bachelor's degree in decision science from Carnegie Mellon University. Hakuta was able to complete his field research on human trafficking in the Philippines thanks to a Fulbright scholarship he received in 2006 from Carnegie Mellon. After that, he held positions with several businesses, including that of vice president of product at GoodRx, a multimillion-dollar tech company, and sales and marketing associate for Honest Tea in Bethesda, Maryland.

During a friend's wedding celebration in 2010, when Justin was still a Harvard Business School student, Wong and Hakuta first became acquainted. They clicked right away, and in 2014 they were married in San Francisco. Hakuta has always been a reclusive individual who values his wits above all else. Wong said in a 2019 Vanity Fair interview that her ex-husband was helping out at her merch booth on tours to assist her by selling T-shirts and other merchandise to fans. To encourage a better lifestyle, Hakuta also founded Yogastart and has also partnered with leading organizations including Tea, Seventh Generation, and Patagonia.
