Christmas is all about spreading love and spending quality time with your loved ones. But what happens when you are forced to spend the holidays with someone who’s your nemesis? You get a fight of a lifetime. With Netflix jumping the bandwagon of releasing its own Christmas-themed movie, they have decided to come out with a flick that’s certainly not your normal holiday movie.

Titled ‘Grumpy Christmas’, the upcoming Mexican movie revolves around a man named Don Servando (Hector Bonilla), who is widely regarded as the Grumpy Grandpa, who has returned home after his adventures in the movie ‘The Patriarch’ (2016). However, his life changes when he meets his new family and goes out on a Christmas vacation with them. There, he meets a woman, who is demanding and ultimately becomes his nemesis. What happens next is a fun ride that makes your Christmas worth more than you expected it to be.

When does ‘Grumpy Christmas’ release and where can you watch it

The upcoming Netflix Christmas movie will be premiering exclusively on Netflix on Wednesday, December 22. According to the Netflix Press site, ‘Grumpy Christmas’ will be available for streaming at 3.01 am EST. Viewers can download the Netflix app from Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store to watch all their favorite movies and shows.

What is ‘Grumpy Christmas’ all about

The official synopsis reads, “Don Servando (Héctor Bonilla), better known as Grumpy Grandpa, returns after his adventures on The Patriarch (2016). This Christmas, he joins a new extended family with his son Fran (Benny Ibarra), daughter-in-law Alma (Jacqueline Bracamontes), and a commune of fun-loving hippies like Gala (Renata Notni), Renato (Juan Pablo de Santiago), and Bill (Daniel Martínez). Together, they’ll take a trip to the beach to spend Christmas with Alma’s aunt, Doña Alicia (Angélica María), a demanding woman who becomes Don Servando’s ultimate nemesis. When his position in the family is questioned, Don Servando will stop at nothing to prove that Alicia is a horrible person looking out only for herself… even if that means ruining Christmas for everyone.”

Who stars in the upcoming Mexican movie

Hector Bonilla is back as the Grumpy Grandpa and will be portraying the character of Don Servando in the movie. Meanwhile, Benny Ibarra and Jacqueline Bracamontes will be seen playing the roles of Fran and Alma, respectively.

The 82-year-old veteran is one of the most legendary names working in the Mexican entertainment industry. Bonilla has done numerous projects in a career spanning over five decades and won several accolades. Acting at the age of 82 is never easy, but year after year he comes to the screen and gives a mesmerizing performance. He made his TV debut in 1967 and made his feature film debut in 1975. Since then, he has been a stalwart of Mexican industry and is considered one of the greatest actors coming from Mexico.


Other actors in the movie include Angelica Maria as Alicia and Renata Notni as Gala. 

Creators

The movie has been directed by the dynamic duo of Pedro Gonzalez and Raul Martinez. Meanwhile, Gonzalez and Eduardo Donjuan have penned the screenplay.
