'Sex Education' on Netflix: Ncuti Gatwa CONFIRMED to return as Eric Effiong for season 4
Admit it, a lot of us were cheering when Eric and Adam in 'Sex Education' decided to become a couple in Season 2. However, we were heartbroken when they split in Season 3. Here's some good news for all you Eric fans out there. Ncuti Gatwa, who plays Eric Effiong, Otis' best friend in the show, has confirmed that he will be reprising his role in Season 4 of the popular Netflix series.
'Sex Education', created by Laurie Nunn, is about a group of teenagers, their parents, and the staff of the fictional Moordale Secondary School, who are exploring their sexual lives and encountering problems that they don't know how to solve. Witnessing these problems is the main protagonist Otis (Asa Butterfield) who decides to come to their aid with his friends. Nevertheless, he is yet to solve his own problems when it comes to love.

'Sex Education' was on a leg when integral cast members like Rakhee Thakrar (Moordale Secondary teacher Emily Sands), Simone Ashley (Olivia Hanan), Tanya Reynolds (Lily Iglehart aka Ola's girlfriend), and Patricia Allison (Ola Nyman) announced that they won't be returning for Season 4. Fans were devastated and shocked by these announcements.
Gatwa won a Scottish BAFTA for Best Actor in Television for 'Sex Education' and three BAFTA Television Award nominations for Best Male Comedy Performance. Despite his busy schedule due to his upcoming movie 'Barbie', starring Margot Robbie as 'Barbie' and Ryan Gosling as 'Ken', he will reprise his memorable role.
The new season will reportedly begin production in fall 2022. The creators of the show are working around Gatwa's many projects to get his dates so that fans can watch their favorite character. Fans hope to see more of Gatwa as several other cast members have left the show. However, that is only possible if the actor's 'Dr Who' and 'Sex Education' dates do not clash and he can work on both projects.
As soon as news about Gatwa reprising his role in 'Sex Education' surfaced online, Twitter exploded with many gleeful fans expressing their joy. One of the fans wrote, "Looks like a great day for various forms of schooling."
"This man is my spirit animal @NcutiGatwa like i pee everytime he's on screen," mentioned another fan. "I got scared for a second there, a huge WIN," shared a fan. "IS GONNA BE A S4 OF THIS SHOW HEEEEEEELP U MADE MY DAY," wrote a fan.
