NCT will be NCT Hollywood mentors at SM Congress, fans say 21 contestants won't 'have it easy'

NCT Hollywood, a collaborative project of SM Entertainment and MGM Worldwide Television Group is essentially going to be a survival show

NCT Hollywood is actually happening and NCT members will be acting as the mentors of the 21 contestants who will be selected to come to Seoul, South Korea. In SM Congress 2021 video, NCT members reveal their plans for 2021 including NCT 2021 unit formation, NCT 127 full-length and a repackage album, WayV's new album, and more.

NCT Hollywood, a collaborative project of SM Entertainment and MGM Worldwide Television Group, is essentially going to be a survival show where initially young Americans have to go through a series of audition rounds to be eligible for the competition and even fly to Seoul for 'K-pop Bootcamp training'. In the quest to find America’s most talented emerging artists in the age group of 13-25, SM Entertainment will conduct a number of dance, vocal and style tests along with training young K-pop enthusiasts, who will learn from other NCT members.

NCT members will be the mentors of NCT Hollywood

NCT members will be the mentors of NCT Hollywood contestants and NCTzens believe that the fourth-gen K-pop superstars will not go 'easy' on the trainees joining the NCT world. Mark from NCT shares that the initial auditions of NCT Hollywood will be held in the US and the chosen ones will come to South Korea for the K-pop training. Doyoung adds that NCT Hollywood members will promote in the US, and have Lee Sooman as their producer. He goes on to add that they are a 'bit nervous' about mentoring but excited as well. 

NCTzens were quick to declare that NCT Hollywood will have really high standards of training if NCT members act as the mentors. A fan posted, "I really hope #JOHNNY gets chosen as a mentor for the NCT Hollywood project. Not only is he an American member but he’s also had the longest training period in NCT. He has the experience and potential to be such an amazing tutor and mentor!" Another fan quipped, "Those NCT Hollywood contestants ain’t gonna have it easy if THIS is their mentor!"

NCTzens resume trolling NCT Hollywood plans

NCT fans had previously taken to social media to troll the plans regarding NCT Hollywood and the recent news led to resurfacing of memes revealing how NCT 'truly' feels about the project. A fan shared a still cut from the SM Congress 2021 video captioning, "THEIR FACES DURING THE NCT HOLLYWOOD DISCUSSION I CANT BREATHE!" Another chimed in saying, "Sungchan as the mentor cuz he'll eliminate all of the NCT H!" An excited fan posted, "I dont really like the NCT H idea but I really want to see the neos as mentors. Imagine Ten and Taeyong mentors!"

NCT 127 fans have also expressed that the K-pop acts deserve better for putting so much effort into the US promotions. A fan said, "127 worked their ass off to build their name in the US market to the point they were boycotted by their home country and now nct hollywood gonna take advatage of it and just use the nct brand that 127 built in the US to promote there? nah bitch it doesn't work like that!" Another fan added, "what is the point of nct Hollywood does sm not remember how well 127 did in America it was so fun back then too!"

WayV and NCT 127 comeback

Along with other plans, NCTzens can look forward to the confirmed comeback of NCT 127 and WayV who will be reportedly releasing full-length albums this year. After NCT Dream's legendary success in 2021 with a 243 per cent increase in album sales, NCTzens are excited to make the other projects of the K-pop act equally successful.
