Cooking conflict: 'MasterChef' Season 14 producers accused of stirring epic battle between generations for drama
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'MasterChef' Season 14 has brought four generations, Baby Boomers, Millennials, Gen X, and Gen Z, into the kitchen for an epic battle. The four generations have different cooking methods, perspectives, and experiences which often end up in a conflict, leading to the viewers accusing the producers of cooking the drama.
So far, the contestants were cooking with their own generations but this time the judges wanted to get messy and divided them into two teams. Anna Johnson won the immunity pin last week and earned the opportunity to divide the generations into teams. Gen Z and Gen X were on Team Blue and Baby Boomers and Millennials were on Team Red.
Despite the differences, Team Blue managed to co-operate with each other but Team Red dramatically failed in communication. Additionally, Rebecka Evans and Anna from Team Red conflicted over cooking salmon. Rebecka was furious over Anna for criticizing her salmon and claimed that Baby Boomers "have our way of doing things, and these Millennials, they think they know everything."
Anna was also not happy about choosing Baby Boomers as her team and said, "I chose the Baby Boomers because of their experience. But we have a lot of personalities on the teams." However, the viewers accused producers of stirring drama between the generations.
A social media user said in a Reddit thread, "I definitely think producers make them say some of this stuff."
Another person added, "Totally being produced to have drama between the generations and especially the millennials and the boomers because they are perceived to be at each others throats as a whole in general according to social media." Another critic noted, "Agreed. Producers just like drama between these contestants."
Another viewer suggested, "The producers are really messy in bringing different generations into a team for the drama." Another internet user penned, "Thay Rebecca comment about Millennials was totally scripted by the producers."
What was the 'MasterChef: Generations' Season 14 field challenge about?
'MasterChef: Generations' Season 14 contestants competed in their first field challenge, filled with disaster, drama, and emotional rollercoaster. The super-sized field challenge was held in BMO Stadium and the contestants had to prepare healthy meals for 101 professional soccer players.
The portions needed to be worthy of celebrating the team. The dish needed to feature protein, starch, a vegetable side, and a sauce. The Blue and Red teams were tasked with preparing their sample dishes in 30 minutes and full meal in an hour.
Who won the 'MasterChef: Generations' Season 14 field challenge?
'MasterChef: Generations' Season 14 Team Red with Captain Anna Johnson won the field challenge. They prepared Pan-Seared Halibut with Lemon Couscous, Sautéed Squash, Broccolini, and Beurre Blanc. The judges criticized uncooked salmon and suggested the team cook it properly while adding salt and lemon for the flavor.
Although they failed to serve 6 guests, most of the football players loved their dish and helped them to win the challenge. Meanwhile, Team Blue with captain Becca Gibb prepared Filet Mignon with Herb Polenta, Brussels Sprouts, Red Wine Sauce, and Crispy Pancetta. Team Blue had a rough day as they failed to cook Filet properly and were slammed by Gordon Ramsay for raw steaks. Their dish was also returned to the kitchen because of the raw steak as the players were concerned about their health.
