'Masterchef: Generations' Season 14 star Becca Gibb's Team Blue in hot water for steak disaster
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'MasterChef: Generations' Season 14 kicked off with contestants diving into their first intense field challenge: cooking for 101 guests. However, things quickly turned sour, especially for the blue team consisting of Gen Z and Gen X members, as disaster struck.
The Blue team, led by captain Becca Gibb, struggled with communication gaps that marred their culinary efforts. Despite their best efforts, their dish—Filet Mignon with Herb Polenta, Brussels Sprouts, Red Wine Sauce, and Crispy Pancetta—received mixed reviews. Gordon Ramsay found the dish 'charming' overall but expressed disappointment with Chris's preparation of the filet.
Gordon Ramsay sharply criticized the steak, pointing out, "You can see just visually there, it's raw. It's ice cold. That is a massive problem there." Despite having time to rectify the issue, the team failed to improve the steaks. Ramsay's frustration boiled over as he described one as 'charcoal', angrily punting it across the stadium.
'MasterChef: Generations' Team Blue's steak sent back to the chefs
'MasterChef: Generations' Team Blue served their dish to the patrons, but several diners sent their plates back due to concerns over rare steaks. They expressed worries about potential illness before their upcoming weekend game, unwilling to risk consuming undercooked meat.
In addition, Team Blue's dish received little favor, with Joe Bastianich polling a table where five diners preferred the Red Team's fish over the Blue Team's steak, which only one person favored. Gordon Ramsay notably criticized the Blue Team for their bland polenta and undercooked steaks.
'MasterChef: Generations' star Adam Hart joined Chris Musgrove at the steak station
'MasterChef: Generations' star Adam Hart faced difficulties cooking the steaks, prompting Becca Gibb to suggest that Chris Musgrove join him to assist the chef. However, Chris was quite confident in his skills and noted in the confessional, "Gen Z's really laid back but right now, this is not a time to be easy going and relaxed."
He added, "We've got to get the steaks in the pan now. Back home, I cook steak at least once a week, and so I'm ready to get my hands dirty and to get cooking." Meanwhile, the judges suggested to him, "Remember you sear a filet. You don't put a hard crust." Despite the suggestion and helping hand Team Blue failed to save their steaks from criticism.
