LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It’s time for the Cat café to close its doors.

Fox has canceled its comedy series ‘Call Me Kat’ after three seasons due to a continuous decline in ratings. The series, which starred Mayim Bialik in the lead role, primarily focused on a woman named Kat (Bialik) who resigns from her job as a college professor to open a cat café. Her life is not easy because she continues to prove that people can still be happy even when they don’t have everything they want. Opening a cat café made her feel good and that’s why she opened the café with the money that her parents set aside for her wedding.

FOX canceled the show due to low ratings

The first two seasons fared better in terms of rating, but things started going downhill in the second half of Season 2. In a statement given to TV Line, a FOX spokesperson noted that the “audience response was not as strong as we had hoped” and that’s why they had to take the tough decision of canceling the show.

“We are very proud of ‘Call Me Kat’. But, unfortunately, the audience response to it was not as strong as we had hoped. We are thankful for our partnership with Warner Bros. Television, That’s Wonderful Productions, Sad Clown Productions, BBC Studios, Mayim Bialik, Jim Parsons, and the entire cast and crew for their work and dedication to ‘Call Me Kat’,” a Fox representative told TV Line.

Fans felt this step was 'long overdue'

Social media seemed to be a bit happy with the news of the cancellation and noted that Fox made the right decision. One of the users said, “Good the show was terrible and not funny at all.” Another social media user noted, “One of the worst shows ever.” Another user tweeted, “3 seasons? How did it last that long?” Another social media user noted, “Should’ve been done after 1.”

“Adore the cast, but it took forever to find its comic footing. The scripts were so hit and miss,” wrote another user.

The news of cancellation comes less than 24 hours after the series aired its season finale (now, series finale).

As far as ratings are concerned, the show averaged 2.23 million viewers this time around and had an average rating of 0.37 in the key ad demographic of adults 18-49. The show has seen a decline of 24% and 38% from the second season.

The series joins other shows such as ‘The Resident’ and ‘911’ in leaving the network after their latest seasons.
