What role did Mayim Bialik play in ‘The Big Bang Theory’?

One of the most loved TV shows of all time, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ saw Bialik essaying the role of a neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler. While she was essaying just a guest role in Season 3, from Season 4 onwards, she was a regular cast member and held the position till the show’s conclusion in Season 12.

Bialik, who herself is a doctorate from UCLA played the role of a woman chosen by an online dating site as Sheldon's ideal match. While she and Sheldon initially shared a lack of social awareness, after meeting Penny and Bernadette, she became more engaged in social and romantic interactions. Her connection with Sheldon gradually grew to the point that he considered her his girlfriend, and they finally married.

Recently, the ‘Beaches’ star shared a throwback photo from the series where she and Jim Parsons were rehearsing for the Amy-Sheldon marriage scene. She shared the photo with the caption, “Rehearsing the Amy Sheldon wedding episode. Note the veil. 👰🏻.”

'I want a Sheldon and Amy series!'

Fans loved the character of Bialik so much that she has been transferred from a supporting cast to a main cast member in Season 4. Even after the series's conclusion, fans revisited her character often. One fan wrote once, "So, Mayim Bialik who played the role of Amy Farrah Fowler in the Big Bang Theory is a legit Neuroscientist pala??? Damn!" Referring to her other work, a fan said, "#CallMeKat was a nice refreshing show. It's hard to not compare Mayim Bialik's role to her role on The Big Bang Theory because the reruns are everywhere, but I'd say she does a great job pulling off this character and helping the audience separate it from her previous work." Another fan, who got inspired by her, commented "I legit cry sometimes. But I figure if Mayim Bialik can get a PhD in neuroscience and then get a major role in The Big Bang Theory, I can always go back to community theatre at a minimum."
