LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Prison Break' is an American serial drama television series created by Paul Scheuring for Fox. The series revolves around two brothers, Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) and Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller); Burrows has been sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit, while Scofield devises an elaborate plan to help his brother escape prison and clear his name.

The crime drama and action thriller show on Fox, 'Prison Break', ended back in 2017 after completing five successful seasons with the network. While fans are desperately waiting for the show to get renewed for a sixth season, sadly, it won't happen. The show was a big success and the most binged series on Netflix. It garnered many fans that absolutely loved the show's concept and the exceptional acting by the cast. Meanwhile, everyone assumed that a hit show like 'Prison Break' would definitely be renewed for another season, but it seems like it has run its course and has already said its goodbyes with Season 5.

A revival after nine long years

Consistency is the key to making great shows, which keeps the audience hooked and creates a mystery around the show. However, this formula wasn't followed by the 'Prison Break' production, as they took a nine-year-long break before releasing the 5th season of the show. The inconsistencies just proved how a sixth season shouldn't be in the making. One might guess that a long break might make things interesting in the show and would make it a great comeback, but that didn't happen with 'Prison Break', as its ratings dropped and gave the fans much more than they can chew. By the end of Season 5, it became evident that the show had become repetitive and if there was a Season 6 around the horizon, it would just be as disappointing as Season 5. 'Prison Break' was originally canceled after Season 4 because of creative differences, despite rumors that it was canceled due to the sudden drop in the ratings. Kevin Reilly, then president of Fox Network, told media at the time that the show had "run its course," and that all the stories had already been narrated.

No surprise element left

A show called 'Prison Break' would have to gather some mystery that would make you hold on to your seat. But, what happens when the characters actually break out of prison? Furthermore, it was a concept with a built-in problem: what happens to a show called 'Prison Break' once they’ve broken out of the prison? It’s on to another prison, of course, which they have to break into … and then out of. And possibly into again. And so on, like jail-based shenanigans. Although, the series did a great job delivering such a mere classic concept of breaking out of prison, what they failed to understand or maybe realized later was that a concept like this doesn't have much content to go on with. Hence, it seems like Paul Scheuring realized after creating Season 5 and its bombing on TV, that Season 6 might suffer the same fate.
