Who is Kylie Sonique Love?

Kylie Sonique Love is a drag queen who was first featured on 'RuPaul's Drag Race' back in Season 2. She was also a part of the 'Holi-Slay Spectacular Special' and is now competing in 'All Stars 6'.

In her season, she placed ninth. As a performer, Love is known to be a phenomenal singer and dancer. Her drag mother is Atlanta performer The Goddess Raven, a national pageant titleholder. Love came out as transgender at the age of 15. She was the 1st contestant from 'Drag Race' to come out as transgender, and was already transitioning prior to the show, but got off hormones before she left for filming. She opened up about being transgender during the reunion episode.

Love has spoken about her transition and even opened up about how she picked her name. “I hadn’t thought about a new name when I started the transitioning process,” she said, while talking to Albany Herald, explaining how she came up with her name. Until then, the artist's drag name was 'Sonique'.

“It was just so confusing living as a woman and having people call me ‘Jason.’ I was performing one night, and the microphone had the word ‘Kylie’ on it, a reference to (Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue). I took that name and ‘Love’ as a last name.”

In the interview, Love also spoke about how she has been adjusting to change. “I was out with a friend recently, and I was uncomfortable because I felt people were staring at me. My friend asked me what was wrong, and I told her. She said, ‘Relax, Kylie, people are looking at you because you’re beautiful. You’re not a freak; there’s nothing wrong with you. People stare at you because you’re beautiful.’”
