Katy Perry says 'Barracuda' sounds very 'karaoke'

Sierra has always had stars in her eyes, dreaming of the day she would make it big on 'American Idol.' She was born with music in her blood with performers in her family, belting out tunes during family karaoke nights and taking center stage in musicals. But she didn't just want music to be a hobby - she wanted it to be her calling. And her persistence paid off when she caught the attention of 'American Idol' through her impressive online presence. With her heart pounding and her nerves on edge, Sierra finally got her chance to audition in Nashville. The moment she walked into the audition room, she was hit with a wave of excitement and awe. The lights were bright, her eyes were wide, and she knew that this was her moment.

She kicked off her audition with a spoon in her hand and a fiery rendition of the rock classic 'Barracuda.' While the judges were impressed with her vocal range, they knew there was something more waiting to be unleashed. That's when Katy stepped in with some sage advice - "Can you sing 'Firework'?" With a deep breath, Harris took on the challenge, belting out the tune with passion and power. The moment she hit her first note, Katy was in absolute shock and her jaw literally dropped! The other two judges were seen comforting her because they know at that moment, that she was a diamond in the rough, just waiting to be polished and refined. The judges tell her to throw out all the gimmicks because her voice stands on its own. It was initially a 'No' from Katy, but with Sierra's rendition of 'Firework,' Katy immediately changed her mind and gave her a yes. With the other two yeses from Lionel and Luke, she finally got a ticket to Hollywood.

'Katy Perry is a caricature'

Sierra's first shot at the audition was termed as 'caricature' by the judges, but fans were really impressed by her vocals. But what ticked off fans the most was how Katy asked her to belt out 'Firework' after such a powerful performance. Some wrote on the official Youtube video, "The real reason she brought the spoon was to fend off Katy Perry," while some took a jab at Katy.

They said, "They never like "gimmicky" acts and tell them to find their true identity but most of the time are are being their true self" One said, "Shows a joke. Who has the biggest sob story" and another, "I don't agree - 1st song was great". Some fans took to Twitter and added, "Sierra Harris was rocking out a difficult song, respecting the dynamics but they had her do a Katy song and she smashed that. Poor Katy wasn't happy. It all came so easy to her. #AmericanIdol #IdolAuditions" One tweet really stood out, they said, "She rose to the challenge and Sang Firework like she was sipping Coke Cola through a straw."
