With the new year Omicron outbreak being non-lethal but infectious, the K-pop industry was continuing as usual with idols attending mass gatherings for their booked gigs. However, it has now started hindering them as Blackpink’s Rose missed out on YSL’s show at Paris Fashion Week 2022 as she got Covid-19 on the day of her flight. And now Orbits (Loona’s fandom) are worried that Loona might have to drop out of ‘Queendom 2’ as almost all members test positive.

Fans have a lot and hate relationship with Mnet’s ‘Queendom’/’Kingdom’ series. Notorious for evil editing which makes some groups look bad and start fanwars, fandoms do not appreciate how Mnet treats their participating groups in the survival show series. But since it is watched by millions of people, fans hope that the global platform will allow their favorites to get the recognition they deserve. And so, while Orbits were not too happy about Loona joining ‘Queendom 2’, they were looking forward to the praise the 12 girls would get as their talents are showcased worldwide.

Almost all of Loona get Covid-19

Unfortunately, on February 28, it was reported that members Haseul, Yeojin and Vivi had tested positive for Covid-19. Their label, Blockberry Creative, had shared that the group was under quarantine and they would be missing the first round of ‘Queendom 2’. However, on March 1, it was reported that 11 out of the 12 Loona members now had Covid-19. They reported Heejin, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Choerry, Yves, Chuu, Go Won and Olivia Hye had tested positive. Hyunjin was the only member who had tested negative.

The girl group had taken a mandatory self-test for their schedule on February 25 which is when the first three members had tested positive. They had then taken PCR tests which came back positive on February 26. Heejin and Yves have taken double doses of the vaccine while the rest of the group has taken the booster shot. There is no new update on their ‘Queendom 2’ appearance as the label shared that Loona’s activities are halted for the time being.

'I believe in Loona karma'

Worried fans made tweets like, “I feel like we will not get loona on round 2 in queendom…,” “Tangina mo covid queendom 2 was such a big opportunity for loona 😭😭😭😭I WAS ROOTING FOR THEM,” and “Wishing for loona speedy recovery and getting back on queendom 2 asap 😭 my poor girlies always having something happen to them.” Another Orbit posted, “IDGAF LOONA NEEDS TO HAVE THE BEST TIMES OF THEIR LIVES AFTER THIS. THEY'VE BEEN THROUGH HELL AND BACK. WHENEVER SOMETHING GOOD HAPPENS, SOMETHING BAD ALWAYS COMES RIGHT AFTER. BUT THEN I BELIEVE IN LOONA KARMA SO WHEN THIS ENDS, I JUST KNOW SMTH BRIGHT WILL HAPPEN.” One positive fan commented, “There's always gonna be a light at the end of the tunnel we can stick through this for the girls.”
