2022 has been a tumultuous year for Jae Park aka eaJ but he is slowly returning to the music scene from being roped in for the ‘Head In The Clouds’ festival in August to hinting at a DAY6 reunion at Coachella in two years when the Korean members’ military service is over. Jae also dropped a season 2 of the ‘Mindset’ podcast with DIVE where he talked about his past problematic statements and how he experienced cancel culture in real life.

With Jae Park’s humor not being meant for everyone, his past jokes have sometimes rubbed people in the wrong way, with them labeling him homophobic and transphobic. However, it was his comment towards his friend Jamie Park that created an uproar on K-pop Twitter with him getting canceled. The former DAY6 star had called Jamie a ‘th*t’ which is a misogynist slur. An appalled Jamie had taken to Twitter to share her shock which led to fans further slamming Jae Park for the comment. However, the two patched up with Jamie tweeting she had spoken to Jae and forgiven him.

Jae Park talks about moving on

In February, Jae Park had also addressed the situation, acknowledged his past problematic statements, apologized to the fans he had hurt with his words, and shared that he was trying his best to change. It has been a while since we heard from him, but he returned with the singles ‘Car Crash’ and ‘Sincerely’ where he once again apologized to those he hurt. And now with Jae once again talking about him getting canceled on the ‘Mindset’ podcast, fans feel that he has repented enough and his genuine remorse makes him deserving of a second chance.

Jae shared on the podcast that his biggest regret was being known for getting canceled and messing up. He added, “When I did my first Mindset Collection, I was still figuring out how to be better mentally. I still am worried that, I, as a person, as Jae, as eaJ, am not good enough…If last time was about my mental health, this time it’s about my struggles to accept myself.” The K-pop idol explained, “There have been a lot of people that I’ve hurt… There have been a lot of misunderstandings, but at the end of the day, I just always want to do the right thing.”

‘I’m so proud’

Fans are touched that he is trying to change and also show that K-pop idols are also humans who can make mistakes. His YouTube comments are full of people sharing that they almost let him go but his sincerity made them forgive him. Fans also wrote letters, sending him support and asking him not to beat himself up anymore. One fan tweeted, “Dear universe, please take care of him. Please hug him when he feels cold and alone. If he is in a difficult situation, then make things easy.”

Another fan was glad that he was learning and moving on, “I've just finished listening to your Mindset. And please bear with my long ass letter for you @eaJPark.” One fan was grateful to Jae, “A reply to S2 EP2 of #eaJ_Mindset by @mindset_dive A letter to my artist.” Another shared, “It’s been hard but you’ve been strong and we’re proud of you, @eaJPark. we’ll survive this cruel world together.” One added, “That’s why he my bias you all I’m so proud and happy of you bro.”
