Ex-DAY6 star Jae Park takes responsibility for past statements, fans say 'it's for best'
The general public seems to be on the fence when it comes to former DAY6 member Jae Park. He has recently been on the news for several controversies which he has finally addressed while sharing a lengthy apology to his friend Jamie Park and fans who were hurt by his words. The K-pop idol explained that he used to think haters were hating on him for the sake of it which had led to his emotional Live last year where he had said that he would be leaving soon and that they had “won.”
Jae Park then did end up leaving his band DAY6 in the new year. And while he shared that it was just temporary, his former label JYPE ended up claiming that he has left the group for good and edited him out of the group photos that had fans disheartened. However, many turned against him when recently he called his friend Jamie Park the misogynist slur ‘th*t’. Jae's first apology was not accepted by fans as he claimed he meant to call her a ‘baddie’. But many are now commending him as he addressed the situation including his past problematic statements and shared that he was doing his best to change.

Jae Park talks about Jamie’s incident
A lot of anti-fans created Twitter threads calling out the ex-DAY6 member for his past problematic comments where he allegedly insulted a lot of minor communities. At first, Jae Park had laughed them off. But after the altercation with Jamie, he went live on January 31 and took responsibility for his words, sharing that he had realized he needed professional help. The realization hit him when he called Jamie, “I realized I f**cked up when I called my friend and she picked up crying…I didn’t want to be a person that makes their friends feel like that.” Jamie’s parents too had called up crying to Jae’s parents which made him feel awful.
Jae also commented on a supposed homophobic moment where he had meant to say that it didn’t matter who someone “f**cked” and then exclaimed that he couldn’t say that because he is a Christian. In the latest Live, he shared that there had been a misunderstanding, he meant to say that he shouldn’t curse because he is religious and that he was a huge advocate of love and loving someone wasn’t a sin.
Jae to leave South Korea?
Jae Park shared that it took him so long to realize he had a problem because “it was just me trying to blame everyone else.” He added that his time in the K-pop industry where idols had to have a certain type of image and filter what they were saying made him think he got back his freedom after he left JYPE. Jae says, “I took an illusion of freedom as being able to not just say what’s on my mind but say things that weren’t even on my mind, just say things out of f**king thin air without thinking.”
Jae also tweeted on February 1, “It was difficult, but I think there were more happy moments. Thank you! Goodbye!” Fans think that the goodbye post is referring to the time he said he would be leaving South Korea and moving back to his home in Los Angeles.
‘Rare moment of emotional maturity’
The user who made Jae’s latest Live go viral on Twitter tweeted, “As we should spread around when he does f**k up, we should also spread around when he tries to hold himself accountable. he said many many more things during this stream, and i'll link it so you guys can watch it fully. he addressed everything.” Another commented, “No excuses, he f**ked up, but I am proud of him owning up and apologizing. I saw it coming, the freedom he suddenly obtained together with all the pent up anger and frustration is dangerous. Glad he got a wake up call early.” One user pointed out, “An all too rare moment of emotional maturity from both fan and idol in stan tweet.”

Fans also wished him best for his new journey, “It's bittersweet but it's for the best. It won't get easy but it can get better. I'll always wish the best for you. Goodluck on your new chapter.” Another fan added, “I'll pray for their happiness, whatever the future will bring. That's the most important thing for me. As long as Jae, Sungjin, Brian, Wonpil, Dowoon live their life to the fullest and keep doing whatever makes them happy, then it is enough. I mean it.” One forgiving fan posted, “We are human. @eaJPark is human. We all make mistakes and I hope we realize that we can never hold anyone to a perfect standard. We all have to draw our own line, but I hope we believe change is possible and we will see #Day6 standing together as a whole again for the #MyDays.”
