Is 'Power Rangers' reboot officially happening? Showrunners drop major hints about the series' comeback
Of late, many rumours about a ‘Power Rangers’ reboot have been circulating on the internet, and now we finally have a confirmation. According to a report by MovieWeb, Disney+ has officially greenlit a 'Power Rangers' reboot. As per the media outlet, 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz have confirmed the reboot of the beloved superhero action series. Recently, Steinberg and Shotz stepped out for a blue carpet event to celebrate the debut of season 2 of their fantasy novel series 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians', which is set to drop its first two episodes on December 10, 2025, on Disney+.
At one point, during his interview with MovieWeb, Shotz was asked to address the ongoing rumours about the 'Power Rangers' revival. Shotz said, "You are asking questions that you know I can't answer. Let's just say we very much hope to bring that story to life, so that's all I can say at this point. The rumor is true. I cannot tell you, but I am very, very excited for that story." At the time of writing, Shotz and Steinberg hadn't revealed any details about the plot of the upcoming 'Power Rangers' series.
For the unversed, the first 'Power Rangers' series was released in 1993. The original series adapted characters as well as footage from the Japanese tokusatsu franchise 'Super Sentai' for Western audiences. The show also consisted of some new storylines and characters. 'Power Rangers' was a big hit among fans and ran for 30 seasons till 2023. The last time fans saw these superheroes was in 'Power Rangers Cosmic Fury', which premiered on Netflix on September 29, 2023.
