'Percy Jackson' Season 2 gets darker rating than we expected and the real reason is surprising
In a surprising development, 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' Season 2, scheduled to premiere on December 10, has received an official TV-PG-V rating, indicating that parental guidance is suggested due to "violence", as per a report by Collider. This indicates a major shift from the first installment of Disney’s fantasy series, which had a simpler TV-PG rating. This shift seems to hint at a darker tone for the forthcoming season of the show, based on Rick Riordan's 'Percy Jackson' book series, and fans can expect a more daring escapade as the young demigods face huge risks in the upcoming adaptation of 'The Sea of Monsters'.
For the unversed, when it comes to TV ratings, PG stands for Parental Guidance, which means that the content is suitable for all ages, but requires parental supervision for younger children. On the other hand, the V in the TV-PG-V rating stands for "violence", as per Disney’s content rating system. The new rating indicates that the second season of 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' will feature more intense action sequences than the previous season.
Created by Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, the series 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' stars Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, and Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan. The show premiered on December 19, 2023, on Disney+. The second season of the show will see Percy Jackson and his group go on a quest to find the Golden Fleece through the treacherous Sea of Monsters. Apart from stopping Kronos' plan to bring down Camp Half-Blood, they will also have to save their friend Grover.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly alongside his fellow co-stars Scobell, Jeffries, and Goodjohn, Simhadri candidly spoke about the second season of 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians', saying, "It's going to be a lot bigger, a lot more epic, a lot wetter. I haven't been dry in a year or two. I mean, I love what I do, but this sucks. All of my clothes are constantly soaking wet all the time." On the other hand, while speaking of the main trio of Percy, Annabeth, and Grover, Jeffries said, "I love the first season, but it was just the three of us fighting huge monsters. This season, it's several quests going on at once. It almost felt like everything was a complete upgrade."
