Is IST bringing back Eric to fill in for Sunwoo? The Boyz fans slam label for bungled hiatus

The Boyz Sunwoo goes on temporary hiatus due to health issues while fans demand their label IST stop overworking the members

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: Sunwoo's label IST Entertainment announced on 30th August that he is suffering from health issues and will be taking a break from The Boyz activities to focus on his rehabilitation. 

According to the label, Sunwoo recently complained about health issues and a deterioration of his condition. Following a serious discussion with the artist, the label decided that he will temporarily suspend his activities in order to rest and focus on his health. “We'll make another announcement on Sunwoo's recovery and return to scheduled activities at a later time,” IST Entertainment added.

Hyunjae was reportedly taken to the hospital for treatment not long ago after he fell ill during a music show promotion schedule. Following this, Eric took a break from the group's activities due to health concerns and flew back to Los Angeles. Recently on August 25th, Eric was seen attending Got7 member Mark Tuan's solo album listening party. Even though he has yet to resume his activities, Eric was spotted in The Boyz show earlier in August.

This has sparked speculation about whether Eric will stand in for Sunwoo. This has caused mixed reactions with the group's fandom 'Deobi' appealing to IST Entertainment to schedule breaks and enough rest periods for all the group members. Fans trended hashtags like #THEBOYZDeservesBetter and #더보이즈_제대로_쉬게해줘. “this kdeobi said that when the reporters ended the live, they said they would only film up to here because they discussed with tbz’s manager that eric wasn’t completely well yet…so ist is bringing eric back before he’s recovered (and if it’s to fill in for sunwoo, ist ur DONE)”

Fans showed their rage by tweeting “this situation it's CRAZY. first eric, now sunwoo hiatus, jacob with painkillers injections, hyunjaes injury, younghoons leg pain. stop overworking our boys, taking care of your artists is your job, LET ! THEM ! REST !"  “attending isac and sudden comeback were really not necessary.. deobis can wait.. tbz should've rest after their world tour.. the audacity of ist to mention "prioritizing the health of the artist first." Whilst others showed their concerns regarding Sunwoo's situation “sunwoo, I hope that you too can see us as a place to rest for a while and the courage to start any time. I hope that you too can laugh a lot and be healthy as well as happy. even if the reason for that isn't us.” Deobis continue sending their love and support to The Boyz. A fan even pointed out how the members have been vocal about their health problems but the company ignores it. “Your own artists has been speaking out about how tired and busy they are but it seems like you're not even taking their opinions into consideration."

Nevertheless, The Boyz made their comeback on 16th August with the title track 'WHISPER' from their seventh mini-album ‘BE AWARE’, which they are currently promoting.
